I believe that asking friends and family to support your business is a key component when you’re first starting out, but I do think there’s a line that most people close to you seem to cross. From what I’ve seen, some people expect discounts or free services. It’s unfair and puts business owners in an awkward situation because 9/10 that friend or family member wouldn’t ask anyone else for a discount; they would respect their business and pay them their stated price. I think that as business owners this is where we go wrong. Asking friends and family to support your business can lead to frustration and disappointment. As far as asking friends or family to support your business, i think it’s a great idea. I just wouldn’t dwell on it if they chose not to. Always remember that no one is obligated to support and just because they don’t doesn’t mean they’re being shady. Read more>>
