Having new or innovative ideas is essential to pushing the world forward and so we asked the community to share stories of the most innovative things they’ve done in their career. Our hope is to inspire folks who think only scientists or tech-wizards can innovate – innovation is possible for everyone, regardless of job title or function, industry or geography.

8-Count Productions was a work in progress for many years while working in Professional Sports Entertainment. It was meant as a creative umbrella for the variety of contract work I was already doing and hoped to do in the future. It wasn’t until this abandoned, historic venue found me, that it grew roots as a home to dance classes, an art gallery, productions, and events as well as my office, art studio, and now home. Discovered Beauties LLC is a Home Bakery. The name Discovered Beauties came from being a dedicated thrift store shopper that resulted in resales of my Discovered Beauties, my thrift store finds. When the pandemic (COVID) came about it instantly stopped what I absolutely loved doing, it was bitter/sweet. Bitter because I could no longer thrift, BUT sweet because Discovered Beauties LLC Home Bakery was developed and now in business. Read more>>

Produce a travel-inspired and cultural event series called, “The Baltimore Travel Experience: Spotlighting Baltimore’s Tourism & Culture”. Post Covid-19, we needed to rebrand ourselves. We asked ourselves: 1) How can we make our agency standout and be competitive? 2) How can we help our community (instead of complaining!)? 3) Why and what intrigues people to travel? Read more>>

The most innovative thing that I have done was create Cigar Society. Since my first cigar, and many thereafter, I was always the one who would go to different venues, and lounges, etc and notice my surroundings. Whether it was the energy, the decor, the demographics, the food, the cigars, the drinks. You name it I noticed it! It came to a point where I started picking apart reasons as to why lounges don’t feature this or have that. Read more>>

I would have to say the most innovative thing I’ve done in my career would be not having the equipment I need, but somehow always making it work. The old saying of “It’s not the camera but person who’s behind the camera ” I took that and ran with it my whole career. I decided not to let it control the out come of my work. I’m always thinking of new and creative ways to make my shoots fun yet alway making sure the quality of my images are still up to par. Read more>>

As a wedding venue owner, I truly believe I have the best job ever but I also have a challenging business model. There is an ever looming revenue ceiling because we can only rent out the venue 365 times in a year and can’t create more weekends (no matter how much we want too). About 3 years into my business, we ran into this revenue ceiling dilemma. Read more>>

Launching a business – taking a chance on myself in an industry that likes to play it safe – is by far the riskiest and most innovative thing I’ve done in my career. I started my editorial company because I wanted to be able to have a greater impact on aspiring authors and help more people with great stories and ideas get their words out into the world. Ironically, the best way to do that was by leaving the traditional publishing industry. Now I’ve started a group coaching program and I teach authors how to advocate for themselves and pitch their ideas. Read more>>

I think one of the best things I’ve done in my career and will always continue to do is to keep evolving. I developed the trait of always trying something new and intriguing in the era of growing up. Part of this was the support of my family in letting me find my path and journey at a very young age. There were so many things I was mesmerized to know and become that eventually, I just became a person with diverse skill sets, adapting to anything that captivates my core passions. Read more>>

The most innovative thing I’ve done in my career is the creation of my own hair growth serum. I created this oil to help not only females but males that may be suffering with hairloss as well. My hair growth oil helps to strengthen the hair, protects the hair from heat damage, stimulates hair growth and it hydrates the hair and prevents frizz. HOPE hair growth oil has been found to stimulate new hair growth and is currently being used to treat many clients that suffer with androgenetic alopecia. Read more>>

What a question to make an entrepreneur think! After careful thought, developing a website for our streaming shows has to be the most innovative thing I’ve done as an entrepreneur. It was December 2020 and COVID was rocking the world. There were no in-person activities, yet we still needed to report the news. A friend introduced me to Streamyard.com, a very simplistic system for streaming shows. Before we knew it, we had hosts from beyond Baltimore hosting shows. This lineup includes hosts from New York, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Oakland, CA. Read more>>
