Having new or innovative ideas is essential to pushing the world forward and so we asked the community to share stories of the most innovative things they’ve done in their career. Our hope is to inspire folks who think only scientists or tech-wizards can innovate – innovation is possible for everyone, regardless of job title or function, industry or geography.

When I began to learn about the metaverse and the wonders of Augmented Reality / 3D implementation, I wondered how I could take my creative skills and combine it with this world of technology. I wanted to innovate something out of the box to make book publishing fit into the future in a new way…so I wondered how could I turn books into a 3d experience. I believe I’ve accomplished a few innovative things in my career… I’ve turned my motor home which I primarily use for camping trips into a mobile meetup space for my customers. This way, I can make it super convenient for any potential couples who want to meet me in person and take my “office” right to their front door if need be. There’s no need for them to fight traffic, waste gas, or rush anywhere. I come straight to them and we have all the conveniences and privacy we need. Read more>>

I record videos of properties for real estate agents’ listings. I video the property but instead of videoing the inside of the property, I video the outside of the property and then the neighborhood it’s in. I show street scenes, historical sites, parks, shopping and dining sites and other areas of interest that a buyer might be interested in. This way, the real estate agent can focus on the property while I show potential buyers what the area or neighborhood has to offer. Read more>>

For me, as a drummer – being able to downsize my rig to a two piece or sometimes one piece drum set/percussion set up has allowed me to work with musicians in an acoustic and semi-acoustic setting where a full drum set player would not be able to… Playing musically with less ‘stuff’ has led me to become an in demand drummer for many touring acts. Thus far, the most innovative thing I’ve done in my career is write, produce, and film my own feature film! Back in 2020, I wrote a short movie and a producer and director friend of mine filmed it and put it on YouTube. It was so rewarding seeing my words come to life, so I made the ambitious decision I wanted to tackle a feature film. I wrote the movie “Pseudo” in September 2020, dipped into my savings, hired my friend’s production company, and we set to work with casting and pre-production. Read more>>

I planned to open my own restaurant since working in kitchens in high school. After over a decade in the industry, I worked on a very specific business plan for an eclectic pizza concept for over a year. I then decided to move to Charleston, SC and that it was time for me to find a location for my first restaurant. After working with real estate agents and architects for months, the deal for the location where we were planning to build fell through. The developer took us to lunch to try to soften the blow, but we were still months in and now left with no space. Read more>>
