Everyday we meet business owners, professionals, artists and creatives. Photographers, florists, realtors and more. They might come from different backgrounds, work in different industries, have varying personalities, and have vastly different income and educational profiles, but the one thing we’ve seen over and over again is that most people have a unique and special reason for why they do what they do. From a realtor helping families afford the first home he always wished for as a kid to a photographer using her skills to give a voice and face to victims who feel voiceless, we have been blown away by what happens when you just ask people a simple question – why do you do what you do?

What we do as real estate agents has the capacity to make a life long impact on someone’s life, and I don’t think most people see it that way. Imagine, you’re bringing your significant other home to meet the parents, welcoming a new child into the world, or maybe a little less glamorous, starting a new, “remote” job. Now, where are all of these significant life events happening in your mind? Probably in the place you call home, right? Where someone chooses to put down roots is one of the biggest decisions one makes in life. Read more>>

“Necessity is the Mother of Invention,”— is a saying you’ll hear often around the Farm, and Jessica Dory’s path from a debilitating auto-immune disease to the creation of the Verde Collection fully embodies the power of this quote. In 2017 Ian Dory’s wife’s health had started to spiral. Jessica Dory began to suffer quickly from severe inflammation and pain in her joints. She went from being a well sought out yoga teacher in Fort Collins, CO and active mother to barely being able to walk up a flight of stairs, pick up her children, or close her hands to achieve simple tasks such as opening a bottle of water. As a young commercial photographer in Dallas, Texas I specialized in shooting primarily products including clothing, housewares, jewelry, cosmetics, skincare, beverages and food for ads and editorial stories in magazines. For the first five years I enjoyed shooting inanimate objects. They never showed up late at the studio, and never talked back in a way that help up the shoot. In those days, it was all about me and I didn’t feel that I was missing anything. On some of the photo shoots that I had which required people, including models and other talented people, I often had to deal with people with an attitude, or an ego. Read more>>

My story began with a choice: Should I pursue a college education or choose trade school, cosmetology school to be exact. At the time, I was a great student with grades and test scores that would allow me to attend most colleges. In the end, I chose both. I worked my way through college as a hairstylist but even after college continued to do hair. I wish, at the time, I would have known that cosmetology school was as good of a choice as college or that it would lead me on the path to where I am now but I pressured myself into college because it felt like what I “should” do. We founded Suburb Pop the Fall of 2017. It all started with the launch party for Kat’s poetry book, Girl, Who Hurt You? This event was one of the defining moments for Suburb Pop, because we were able to incorporate our shared loves of art, live music, and hosting, while also showcasing our personal brands and newly established businesses. The launch party gave me the opportunity to create a storefront experience for my online lifestyle blog and jewelry boutique, The Visionary Boss. Throughout the entire night, our guests raved about the event experience, production, all the details that made it feel eminent and inspired. Read more>>

I look forward to every day I get to hold space for women to grow and improve their businesses. Another aspect of Babe Crafted’s mission is giving back to non-profits that empower women and girls in our respective communities. We do this through group volunteer days, donation drives and donation funds raised from the raffles & ticket sales of certain events. Read more>>

In January of 2020, we faced a huge dilemma. Our laundry service (and sole source of income) was in danger of closing indefinitely due to the Covid 19 outbreak. We couldn’t get the supplies we needed as stores imposed limits on cleaning products, laundry detergent and bleach. In some cases, the shelves on the cleaning aisles were completely bare! It was a pivotal sink or swim moment. We couldn’t watch everything we’d built be washed away. So, we decided to swim like hell. Read more>>

Jessica McKinney and I met at a large personal injury firm, where we were able to gain valuable experience and work hundreds of cases. Personal injury law has quite the reputation, and it’s sad because people injured in an accident genuinely need the type of help that we can provide. Insurance companies want to save money, and that’s the bottom line. It’s never in their best interest to properly compensate someone if they can get away with paying less than what’s fair. Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve loved art. I appreciate and adore it in all of its capacities. When I was 15 years old, I decided I wanted to practice an art form regularly. I decided that that would be makeup. I have found a passion through doing makeup and hair on others, and it’s very fulfilling for me. I hope that I let my clients glow and feel beautiful. I don’t think makeup makes people more beautiful, I think the confidence boost and self love does. I want my clients to feel comfortable in their own skin, and that’s what I aspire to help them with. I love what I do, I love helping people get their space back, I love helping them find their Zen, the space the can come home to and de-stress, breathe, and relax. I didn’t always realize I needed this space for myself and when I did, it changed my whole perspective on my mental health. As I work with more and more clients, this is the common theme. They are drowning in their space and it is affecting their family life at home. How did I discover this? Read more>>

I’ve seen life knock down so many times, I just want you to not take it personally when experiencing difficulty but instead get back up swinging and fight harder than ever. Read more>>

Mission: To inspire people to embrace a fearless approach towards their dreams with a devotion to responsible living. I grew up in a small town in the heart of Arizona. The strongest woman I know is my mother. She was a single mom of 3 and we were often left at home, alone while she worked many jobs to support us. When I reached the age of 15, I told my mom that I wanted to leave home and she let me. I worked 3 jobs and slept on couches vowing to never ask my mom for help. Read more>>

The story behind my mission is simple. My mission for creating my Georgia Bar Exam Tutoring Course is to improve diversity in the legal profession. Prior to attending and graduating law school, I realized that I wanted to serve the black community by participating in the mainstream culture in a way that would both serve as a role model for other minority class members and would permit me to give active voice to a minority who is both underrepresented in the legal community and who is sometimes exploited by our judicial system.
