Working on something meaningful is a common desire – but how? We started asking folks to share the story of how they ended up working on a project they felt was meaningful because we wanted inspiration but also because we wondered if hearing from people from across a range of industries would help us identify patterns making it more likely for anyone to be able to find and work on projects that they would find meaningful.

I think the most meaningful project I’ve worked on continues to be the first group art show I curated in August 2023. Neighborhood Plant Dealer was a new multi use indoor plant studio that just opened in downtown Vallejo in the summer of 2022. I attended an art event in April 2023 & it inspired me to think of curating my first group art show. Read more>>

I would definitely say my upcoming album, Colors & Lights, has been the most meaningful project I’ve ever worked on. Each of the songs on C & L are meaningful to me because they represent how I was seeing the world at different stages of my life. In a way you could say each of them were written with a distinct set of eyes, yet they’re all me. Read more>>

The most meaningful project I’ve ever done is a recent track called Y Not. I have been a member of my local YMCA for over 22 years and an instructor for almost 16 years. The most meaningful project I’ve ever worked on was photographing the proposal of my longtime best friend, Tyler, and his now-fiancée, Payton, in February 2024. At that point, I had been running my business for three years, and while every shoot I do holds meaning to me, this one was different. It wasn’t just a photoshoot, it was a full experience. All of my projects are very meaningful to me because they all mark a time stamp in my life. I recently wrote a play called GIRLTHING which follows a 27-year-old woman as she unravels a chaotic tapestry of interactions with so-called Nice Guys. The action orbits around a singular rupture in her worldview: the day her childhood dog turned violent. GIRLTHING asks, what happens when “boys will be boys” bites back? It’s absurd, it’s dark, it’s funny. Read more>>

My career as a professional athlete gave me the platform, but it also gave me the responsibility to do something more with it. I have been dancing since I was a little kid. I trained on in Colorado on the western slope in Grand Junction. I trained mostly in ballet but had experience with other styles.
