Every once in a while we have the good fortune of working on a project that we feel truly matters, a project that we’ll still be thinking about years from now. Maybe even something we can imagine telling our grandkids about – surely you’ve had moments like that where something you did in your professional life really mattered?

One of the most meaningful (and challenging) projects I have worked on as an artist is Plain Faraday’s most recent EP, Pink Blazer. For context, this is the second EP that we have independently recorded, produced, mixed, and released. However, while our first EP was a reflection of our indie-folk-rock roots, the Pink Blazer project was an exploration into spaces of Neo-funk, jazz, soul, and indie-pop. As an artist, I believe it is very important to always be creating art that excites, challenges, and propels you into new creative spaces. In light of this, Read more>>

Recording albums is always the most meaningful projects to me because they are a time stamp that lasts forever. Performing live is the most fun and exciting part of the art-form because it is the most immediate and in the moment, but recording usually takes a lot of time and sculpting to craft. However, when we make an album, my goal is to capture the magic of the moment so the process is kind of a paradox. Our upcoming release, the “Mellow EP” has certainly been a labor of love that we have been working on since we recorded in June of 2021. Read more>>

I just started a new project that stems from a lot from the reason I do what I do. The project is called Bodies In Water and it focused on using water as a consistent for all the sessions since water itself can be an equalizer of sorts. When you think about it there is so much stigma around being in a swimsuit or certain types of clothing that seems to make a majority of people feel uncomfortable or self conscious. However, once you get in the water a lot of this discomforts melt away. Read more>>

The most meaningful project I’ve worked on also happens to be my most recent project: my short film “Read Between the Lines” (RBTL). The story follows a socially-anxious Carlos as he makes multiple attempts to ask out the cute Bookstore Clerk that he has a crush on, and was inspired by true events. Read more>>

The most meaningful project I have done is an EP named Mama, I’m OK. It was a project dedicated to the relationship I have with my mom and it’s complexities. I talk about my struggles with mental health and how it affects the relationships around me. As an only child we special bond and my recent move away from home heightened her concern. I used her voicemails as narration (interludes) to tell the story of the project. Despite hearing the worry in my mom’s voice grow from interlude to interlude, the project ends on a positive note of perseverance. Read more>>

Since March 2022 I have dedicated my time and professional skills to a project that is very meaningful not only to me, but to many around the world. I hand-paint silk scarves, shawls and pocket squares in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, incorporating into each design sunflowers, the bright and powerful symbols of Ukraine and Ukrainian strength. All proceeds from the sale of theses hand-painted silk accessories are donated directly to the family of my childhood friend, a family who are now war refugees in Romania. Each person who purchases one of my silk scarves or other accessories directly assists this concrete family in need. Read more>>

My most meaningful project I’m working on is my Uniquely Victoria Media. It started out as a marketing idea for my Uniquely Victoria clothing line. When the idea popped in my head it was right before women’s history month. My goal was to celebrate unstoppable minority women. I’ve always been passionate about helping out or supporting minority businesses and learning about people in general. Whether it be their culture, background, or story. So, I gathered some fashion and creative individuals who were and are open to being interviewed. Read more>>

So far, the project that I’m most proud of is my debut feature film, “The Curse of Professor Zardonicus,” which just came out on Blu-ray/DVD after premiering on VOD a few months ago. “Zardonicus” is a dark-comedy found-footage thriller that I wrote, directed, and produced with a crowd-funded budget of $3,500 back in my senior year of college. It stars Houston-actor Alec White as an eccentric loner who recruits a film student(played by myself) to help him prove the existence of a ridiculous urban legend, Professor Zardonicus. Read more>>

The most meaningful project I’ve worked on so far is my current feature script I’m developing for screen, “Alex & MOR: (A Love Odyssey)”. I’ve been working on the initial concept for 2 years now, and the current iteration I believe is the most personal to me and aspects of my life. It deals with themes of perception, choosing your life’s dream versus the one you love, and identity. Read more>>

I’ve been creating one thing or another for as long as I can remember. Music, video skits, films. I always felt like creating things was the best way to get my voice out there, let people know who I am, tell my story. However over the past couple of years I began to see my motivations changing. I am starting to find myself in a place where I want to help other people get their voices out there. I want to see the people I care about get a chance to do what I’ve done. Tell their stories. My friends, my children. It’s becoming less about me. Read more>>

Most of my joy comes from connecting others to impactful circumstances. Having had a life fulfilled with opportunity after opportunity…I began a creative side a writing screenplays that turned into film. However, my projects were built around real issues and challenges faced in our world today with a mixer of comedy, drama and realism. My 1st full feature film “Driver’s Chronicle” truly was a learning experience, but gave numerous actors/actress access in front of the camera to work their craft. Read more>>

The Alliance Theatre short film “Sit In” is a story inspired by true events celebrating the power that youth have to change history. Early in the pandemic, the Palette Group brought me in as the lead animator. Alongside a powerful cast and crew (special shoutouts to Andrew Asher & Hey Buddy CC), we embarked on a nearly half year journey of turning what would have originally been a theatrical performance into a 33-minute animated short. I can’t narrow it down to just one! There are two children’s books I just illustrated that are both very meaningful to me. The first was my own book Samuel Shootingstar. The book was born out of the tragedy of loss in my family, however it is full of color and vibrancy! The story is about Samuel, a shooting star, who is helping his new friend Luna find a new home in their galaxy after the destruction of her old one. I poured so much of myself into this book and illustrated it with my whimsy setting on high! The book was released by Jumpmaster Press in March 2022. Read more>>

The Most Meaningful Project I’ve Worked On So Far Would Have To Be My Recent Project, The 1MANBAND EP. I’d Say This Would Be The Most Meaningful Project Because It Encapsulates My Recent Life Battles And Is Being Eloquently Presented In A Creative Style. I Recorded, Mixed, And Mastered The Entire Project Myself So I Put My All Into It. All Of The Pain, Raw Emotion, & Anger Is What Made This Project In The First Place. I Can Honestly Say That I’m Pleased W/ The Outcome & There Is Definitely More Music Being Made . Read more>>

My most meaningful project so far would be the ” Heart of Salvation” piece that I created earlier this year. I adopted the idea when I went into a phase of life that was unfamiliar and learning myself all over. It was a lot of adversity and I called on God to hold me together in the times. I am forever grateful for the way he orchestrates things and people in my life even when I do not understand the process at times. So ,this idea lingers in my head for six months before I even begin the sketching process, and I finally approach the project with a fresh mindset. Read more>>

Lately I’ve been filming a lot of artistic segments that highlight the tragedies happening in Ukraine, as well as interviewing refugees and their family members to help tell their stories. I’m from Ukraine, and as everyone knows, our country is (still) going through the worst imaginable war possible. The only good that has come from this nightmare is that I have since connected with so many people in Austin’s Ukrainian community, which much larger than one would think. I’ve always a had a very supportive group of friends in Austin’s film scene, but now it is like I have extended my family with these fellow Ukrainians. Read more>>

I am an Actress /Singer /Songwriter. What I love about what I do is telling a story, especially with my songwriting. I like to write songs that send positive messages and that deal with important issues. My most recent release is a song called #mytime. #mytime is a song about bullying and learning to celebrate who you are! It is very meaningful to me cause it is an issue that a lot of people, and kids especially have had to deal with. It is a topic I am very passionate about and want to help make a change. Read more>>

Honestly I believe all of my work is meaningful in its own way. If i had to say of all my projects, one of the most meaningful has been my piece titled “I’m ok” which features a silhouette of a face speaking the words “I’m Ok” however inside the silhouette are words that describe things that people deal with internally in everyday life such as “anxiety”, “doubt”, “fear”, “unworthy”, and “black girls cant afford a break” At the time I created the piece I had no idea how meaningful it would be however to witness the impact that such a personal piece has had on so many has been a very fulfilling experiences. My favorite piece of art, that I have created so far, is a piece called “Letting Go”. 95% of the time I create art with no backstory in mind, no story behind the art. No controversy or pain behind the creation. I prefer to make something that makes people smile. Something that can bring joy and happiness to people. But “Letting Go” became something more. JJ Art and Design Productions is our baby. JJ Gonzalez Acosta and I started this platform where art has been the main protagonist. We have shared beautiful stories told through artists and entrepreneurs in and outside of the country. We have also shared wonderful stories told through the magnificent world of visual and performing arts. Our goal is to help others discover their artist within. In 2019, we produced The Lion King Jr. and Frozen Jr. with a special arrangement with Musical Theatre International in a local fine arts academy. Read more>>

As we are in the midst of creating our first album, Modern Waves, it’s hard to find any project yet that holds more meaning. . When we formed Authors of the Air, we agreed that we wanted to be judged not by a genre, but known for our range. We base this album in storytelling and make sure we dress it in experience. We visit indie rock, folky bossa nova, hip hop, punkish physchadelic with alot in between. Read more>>

Probably the most meaningful project I’ve worked on is my book Black Belt Discipleship. I have been in the ministry for almost 30 years, which entailed speaking/preaching, singing, and helping people walk out of a victim mentality into a victorious mentality! What I’ve learned over the years is that people don’t truly grasp the difference between knowing something and having an understanding of something. This becomes evident when the rubber meets the road, and we are not able to manifest on the outside what we “think’ we know on the inside. Read more>>

The most meaningful project that I am working on currently is my podcast ” Feel Deal Heal with Nancy Verdule. The reason why it is meaningful to me is because I wanted to be a light in a time where our society is experiencing a lot of darkness. There is so many headlines about the state of our country inflation, raising gas prices, housing market, food drought and most recently a recession. Read more>>
