Every once in a while we have the good fortune of working on a project that we feel truly matters, a project that we’ll still be thinking about years from now. Maybe even something we can imagine telling our grandkids about – surely you’ve had moments like that where something you did in your professional life really mattered?

It’s actually two – if I am allowed to share more than one. The first one is something I started right after the pandemic outbreak and it’s titled “I CAN PLAY THAT TOO”. It is a series of collaborative piano covers, initially online, which was created in an effort to unite pianists from all over the world. In these episodes, pianists play different parts of the same piece. Read more>>

I always find all projects I do meaningful, but I would specifically like to mention two very meaningful projects. The first project is what I am working on right now, my first full length Jazz Album. As a child, music was my life and I performed and studied music since I was a very young girl, but it wasn’t until my late teens that I was introduced to jazz. Read more>>

That would have be the project I’m currently working on. It’s my first short film titled “A Tale of Blood and Magic.” I chose this as my most meaningful project because of how much its changed me as a person. While working on this project, I’ve had to face my flaws and recognize how I sometimes get in my own way. I’ve had to work through feelings of self-doubt. Read more>>

Last year was my first real year trying to be a full time artist. I had smaller goals to achieve and one was to apply for a group showcase to take a small baby step into the artist world. The year started slow however in May I was accepted to my first group showcase called, “Rituals”. AAPI artists were asked to interpret the word and meaning as we see fit. Read more>>

Writing and self publishing our first childrens book has been one of the most meaningful projects from ArtsyBlue. The idea came about from a bedtime story, I was very intentional about making Melia read a book every night before bed, even more so after she was diagnosed with mild dyslexia. We were always in search of new books that would keep her interest and be on her reading level, so she could enjoy the process of reading. I was honestly waiting on that spark to ignite. Read more>>

The most meaningful comedy project I’ve worked on is Boulder Comedy Festival. The idea came from seeing a real lack of diversity and women in comedy shows and festivals. I always try to use creativity to address Issues or things I think could be done better. Years ago I saw a lack of diversity in comedy, so I created a show called token straight white dude, with only had one straight white male comic each month, allowing the remaining spots to showcase diversity. The most meaningful project I’ve worked on thus far has been “July 7.” It was such a turning point in my career as a director and a storyteller because, for the first time, I was not telling a story for my people. I was telling a story of my people, of me. A story that is still an open case that the Haitian people will probably never get closure on. Read more>>

The most meaningful project to date is ‘Children of Conflict’ – a project for which I composed the music, mixed the recording and produced the album. It is a contemporary work for social justice to bring attention to the plight of ‘children of conflict’ around the globe. It is comprised of six short movements: Proloque, Father’s Lament, Lost-Innocence, Desolation, Mother’s Lament & Epilogue. Each movement is recorded in a 4K music-video that plays an integral role in reinforcing the music’s message: Read more>>

We do a lot of custom work which we love doing. Working with customers is very satisfying, because it is not a Grossarosa2 project; it is our project, our creativity, our likes; we just put it all together for them. The best ones are customers that have a concept, but are not sure exactly how to execute it. We are not just making tables, wall décor, charcuterie boards are making new family heirlooms that will hopefully be passed down from generation to generation. Read more>>

I’ve had the pleasure of working on some truly special plays and performances With our theater company, we always do projects that tie into something important, whether that be culturally, politically, or socially. The most meaningful for me was a piece called You Know Me. For it, I interviewed six volunteers who shared stories about abortion services they had received, and we turned those interviews into monologues. Read more>>

As a jewelry designer, I am almost always making gifts for my clients to give to someone special. Sometimes it’s a present to help remember the recently deceased. I’ve incorporated their handwriting on numerous pieces; usually their signature or a special saying. Whether I knew them or not, it’s an emotional experience for me. There is so much life and personality in someone’s handwriting. Read more>>

Zephyr Heart is my first full project (EP) and I worked so hard on it emotions poured out in my songs. Zephyr Heart is an EP that tells my story that shows what I’ve been through. The most meaningful project I have worked on has been the one that is unfinished. Ha. I want to tell you which one, but that wouldn’t be integritous to what I believe success is and what it takes to be truly successful. My most meaningful project that I’ve ever worked on is my press and media coverage with the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and Gemäldegalerie because I received a rare opportunity to cover famous artworks from old masters as a young artist. I have been a performer all my life. From the plays I used to put on in my bedroom for my grandparents, to performing across the country in regional shows and tours, being on stage has defined my life. There was a moment while I was living in New York, doing a reading that I felt no personal connection to, when I asked myself, “how can I make art that has more of an impact within my own communities, and tell the stories I am passionate about sharing?” Read more>>

Definitely my ongoing series, Controlled Chaos: Life Through the Terrarium Lens. So far, it is a 7-piece series of diamond-shaped handwoven wall hangings that focuses on the idea that society tells us to “be ourselves” but only if that version of us fits into a very specific and rigid, predetermined mould. Ultimately, for many of us, society dictates how we live our lives more than we do. Read more>>

This most recent album that we dropped January 21st night of the New Moon is a meaningful one for us. We had an intuition to take a step back from our usual style of jamming that we had grown very comfortable with and to hone in on our individual creativity in order to have new ideas to present. It was time to invite a new chapter of creativity into our process of writing songs. Read more>>

Every project I’ve worked on has a deeper meaning or story behind it. But, a project that really helped me transmute some of my hardest times into love and creation, is the butterfly piece. My most meaningful project was the “Make Me New E.P”. While making this E.P. I was just recently baptized at the time and met one of the most important people in my life that helped me find God again. During the time of recording the songs I was battling with my own convictions of my past. From selling drugs, being homeless, to my battles with depression and anxiety. I just wanted a new start and I was finally able to receive it after being baptized. Read more>>

So, it’s definitely my album “Formidable.” It was released last year in March, and was my very first full-length project. Up to that point, I had only ever done EPs (Welcome 2 the Dawn, Sapio in 2018), so approaching this project was super intimidating. But, growing up listening to classic albums from MJ to Prince to Earth, Wind, & Fire is what gave me the motivation to take the plunge anyway. Read more>>

Every piece of work I create is meaningful for me in its own way. It takes an immense amount of energy and effort into creating what you envision, that you can’t deny that you put a piece of yourself into that work, in an almost literal sense. I’m proud of all the work I’ve created, but as far as being the most meaningful…I’d have to say it’s a painting that I created after my father passed a few years ago. Read more>>
