We often hear about bad bosses, but we think it’s important to talk about the good ones because we hope that by giving folks examples of how to be a good boss we can inspire future bosses to be better, to do better for their employees and all stakeholders.

The best boss and mentor I’ve ever had is Allen Sandoval. He owned the karate studio I trained at, and was also a huge part in training all the students. I first met him when I was about 4 years old. He was the PE teacher at the school I went to. When I was 6, my mom jokingly said, “wanna try karate?” I immediately said yes, and was hooked after the first class. I truly believe to this day it was who Allen Sandoval was/is that made me want to do karate, and stick to it. He was someone who you didn’t want to disappoint.
