One of the most important things we think the media can do is connect small business owners and creatives across industries and markets to give them an opportunity to learn form each other. The insights on trends in particular can be transformative if our communities were better connected and so we’ve tried to create a space where folks can share the trends they are seeing and read about trends other sharp entrepreneurs are seeing.

Now that my business has leaned more heavily into all things wedding, there have been a lot of wedding trends that I’m seeing from my clients! One of the biggest things is having everything personalized, which shows that the clients went the custom route versus just selecting something online. Similar to myself, almost all of my clients are obsessed fur baby parents and want to add watercolor paintings or linework drawings of their pets to their invitations, signature drink signs, napkins, and more. One of the biggest trends in photography is really one of the biggest trends in culture. Reels. Putting yourself out there via videos using social media platforms has encouraged most business owners, influencers and people to gain an audience to showcase their work or really, anything. This is something I was not prepared for to say the least. I love photography because I do not have to worry about myself being in front of a camera. Social media has shifted in a way that practically forces people like myself to participate or disappear (at least in social media via algorithms). Read more>>

When I first entered the beauty industry, beauty services were mostly looked at as a luxury or something to indulge in a few times a year. Now, we are seeing a huge transition, as facial treatments are no longer just a luxury, but truly a necessity. Consumers are interested in how they can not only look beautiful, but feel equally as amazing on the inside. We are seeing the aesthetic industry truly transition to an “inside-out” approach, and it’s remarkable. Read more>>

Entertainment and film is and has been gravitating towards a for-cash moment. Instead of a rich storytelling and quality controlled industry where only the great stories and works were able to shine, all it takes to produce a “successful” peice of work is a name brand and an over-inflated budget, with no talent or creative effort necessary. This is a very sad and dangerous movement, mainly because when good art dies, the passion and effective expressiveness of the world will as well. I aim to be a small part of the solution.
