One of the most heartwarming moments in my practice was when a fertility patient came back with a positive pregnancy test. It was the first time I’d supported someone through that kind of journey and we had both worked hard to get there. She had been coming in regularly, following treatment recommendations, and staying hopeful through the uncertainty. Read more>>

One of the most meaningful moments of my journey came not at graduation, but in the quiet, difficult nights that led up to it. As a single mother from a poor urban community, I faced challenge after challenge while pursuing my undergraduate degree in social work. There was no backup plan, no safety net, no family assistance—just me, my son, and a dream. Read more>>

While I was in dietetics school, I spent my summers working as a kids’ cooking instructor. We had a new group of students each Monday. That first day was tough for some kids – especially the younger ones. Some would cry as their parents left, and others were too shy to speak for the first half of the day. My illnesses as a child and through the last 45 years from Hodgkins Lymphoma to Breast cancer to having a massive heart attack, dying, brought back and receiving a new heart from an 18-year-old beautiful donor has created a beacon for others to turn to for help, comfort, safety and restoring their body with me. My approach to my work is from a place of empathy which really relaxes patients in my field which is primarily obesity, cardiac issues, cancer and diabetes. I’ve incorporated the idea of laughter and joy into my workouts, so clients learn to reach their health goals using happiness as part of the care plan. Read more>>

One of the most heartwarming parts of our work at Brain Gains Therapy Solutions is supporting children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), a neurologically based motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for the brain to plan and sequence the movements needed for speech. These children work incredibly hard for every sound, word, and phrase, and the progress they make is truly inspiring. Families often come to us after trying other therapy approaches that haven’t led to meaningful gains. Read more>>

One of the most heartwarming moments in my work was with a woman named Cheri L. who lives with multiple sclerosis. She scheduled a demo on our InHarmony vibroacoustic meditation bed, and she arrived in noticeable discomfort. She explained that her left hip flexor had been aching for weeks, so much so that she couldn’t even lie flat without pain. Read more>>

Birds have always been meaningful to me. As a child, my mom had a pet bird named Hopsalot. She would sing to him in the morning, and they would whistle back and forth to each other. My mom would call to Hopsalot in a singsongy voice saying, “Pretty Bird,” and he would chirp happily. My mom passed away in 2010, and whenever I am outside on a winter day, I revel in the clear, crisp song of cardinals. I am reminded of my mom. It makes me feel like she isn’t too far away.
