My career has always been rewarding getting athletes back to play after surgery or helping the occasional acute injury return to life. One of my most rewarding stories was a mother that was referred to me with severe low back pain and radiculopathy. After a bad experience with physical therapy, being hospitalized for an epidural and she was between needing surgery or not. After being referred to me from her pain management doctor in a last attempt we began our journey together. A heart warming moment in my career as a doula was showing a mother who came to The United States, because healthcare back where she resided (Bahamas) wasn’t in good shape due to Covid and she needed the proper help and assistance to take care of her and deliver her baby safely. She came down to the States with absolutely nothing. I’ve watched children who were in deep depressions suddenly be lifted out of them when they got to draw funny pictures. Back in 2014 I was volunteering for the largest emergency shelter in Phoenix, AZ. I was leading gentle yoga classes, meditation and sound healing. One day I arrived and began to walk through the yard to set up inside and noticed a woman who was very upset. She was yelling and not lucid.
