I actually did my clinical internship at the place that hired me after graduation. My internship was for four months, and I was required to do 600 hours that included direct and indirect contact with the clients. During the internship, I was also studying for the National Licensure Exam. This exam determined weather I graduated or not. Read more>>

I didn’t know that I always wanted to be in aesthetics. I was never that person, that knew from a young age what I wanted to do when I grew up. I started out in public safety as an emergency medical dispatcher. I loved being able to help people, and honestly, it was a great job for someone that didn’t know what they wanted to do with they’re life and only a high school diploma in hand. It offered good pay, benefits, retirement, and I could’ve made a 25 year career out of that, but something was missing. Read more>>

Believe it or not, my first love (travel) is the reason I initially learned about the opportunities at my first job while I was traveling for my birthday in Peru! I was on a tour in a Huacachina which is a desert in Peru. I ended up meeting a nurse anesthetist who was from New York, what a coincidence! I told her that I was in CRNA school at the time and that I wanted to move back to New York and work at a place where I could get a ton of experience. Read more>>

My first job in the counseling field was working at an outpatient treatment center for substance use/addiction. I had completed my internship with this organization and decided to apply after I completed my internship requirements. How I ended up choosing to complete my internship here, I really couldn’t tell you. Substance use counseling was never even a blip on my radar when entering my graduate school program. Read more>>

At the age of 30, as my husband neared the end of his surgical residency, I decided to get my Zumba instructor license just for fun so in May 2014 that is what I did. Fast forward to summer 2014- we moved to Kennett Square, PA so my husband could complete a critical care fellowship. I decided that I wanted my own Zumba class, so I pursued the local YMCA to hire me. This was much more challenging than I had anticipated. Read more>>

My first “job” as a Massage Therapist was simultaneously opening my own business near Edmonds, Washington, and picking up a few shifts at a trendy spa near downtown Seattle. I was still working full-time at Washington Mutual bank, as one of the online banking customer service desk jockeys – so I was working weekdays in corporate America about 15 minutes from home, Read more>>

My first job working for someone as a Massage Therapist was at a nationwide spa. I was very nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. Working among a handful of other therapists who had years of experience while I was just newly licensed and freshly 3 months out of school. I’ve always known I wanted to open my own practice, but at the time, my goal was to gain experience so that I could take what I learn and apply it. Read more>>

I first started my journey in aesthetic nursing while I was working as a Nurse Practitioner in primary care approximately 4 years ago. I had gone back to school to obtain my Doctorate in Nursing Practice after being at the bedside for 7 years and was certain my calling was being a primary care provider. I met Jamie Smith, Owner of GLO Facial Rejuvenation, through a friend who had received services from her and was instantly drawn to her vision of making aesthetic services available to all no matter socioeconomic status. The year was 2012. It was the busiest it had ever been. At the time, in a relatively new relationship, moving to a new home in a new state, while operating two different businesses. Needless to say, it was a juggling act. Most days, I felt like a circus juggler performing for the first time in front of 100’s of people. There were lots of expectations and responsibilities. The first client I got was when I was a member of a networking group known as BNI. I had been a member of a specific chapter for a few months and a fellow member trusted me enough to believe I could help his friend so he recommended my services. Read more>>
