Social media can be a really powerful way to connect with and build deeper relationships with your audience – but it can be extremely time consuming. So, we asked some folks we admire to share how they manage their social profiles and whether they’ve hired professionals to help.

I manage my own social media presence. I have found that it can be hard to find a balance – how much time should I spend setting up the perfect photo or editing a reel versus engaging with my customers and perfecting my product. On one hand, social media takes time away from the real work of creating custom dessert decor for my customers. On the other, social media is one of the best ways to bring in new customers, share ideas, and showcase what others are doing for their events. I make a big effort to post something every day so that new and former customers remember to order, but also know that in the end it’s really about the quality of the product itself. Read more>>

“I manage my own social media accounts for two businesses. It can be a bit overwhelming at times, but I’ve been able to effectively manage my workload with the help of apps like Zapier and Odoo. Over the past year, I’ve grown one account to have 40k followers by identifying the right content to post, determining the best timing, and utilizing hashtags effectively.” Read more>>

As I’ve gone from a writer to an author one of the things that has changed the most is my social media. Managing my own social media has its ups and it for sure has its downs, however I’ve found that it can be one of the most enjoyable things once you know who you are reaching out to and interacting with your fans. As the years have gone by I’ve even out grown my own social media and have assisted other authors, it’s been one of my favorite things to work with and the fall back on working behind the scenes on social media after a long day of writing is a joy. In my two years of being a content creator I have tried managing my own social media, having a management team and having an assistant. Although both the management team and the assistant helped save time is some aspects, when you are the face of your brand, it is hard to find tasks to completely delegate. So currently I am managing everything on my own again. For now, that is working for me but in the future if I decide to expand into other avenues I will hire an assistant again. Read more>>

I currently manage my own social media as most of my leads come from Instagram! I think it’s so important to build a presence and set a foundation for your social media to show a face behind the business. With so much competition and beautiful images on Instagram, it’s important to build trust with your audience so they know who you are before they even reach out to inquire! I try to focus on the experience with my couples more than just delivering pretty images. If the couple has loved the experience of working with me and I can build a good relationship with their friends and family on the day of the wedding, that is what makes me most excited and I try to show that as much as I can through my social media. As a business owner who helps founders with their own social media content, you’d think I’d have an easy time figuring out what to share on my own social media. Well, not exactly! In fact, the work I do means I spent a lot of time overthinking what I share. Am I sharing things that are too personal? Am I talking to the right audience? Do I sound like I know what I’m talking about? Read more>>

I personally fell in love with social media going into college. I started building my platform while at North Carolina A&T State University through networking with other students, showing off my fashion sense through posting on Instagram and learning the in’s and outs of influencing through social media. Once I started my business in 2018 I had to not only post for my main page for my personal brand, but also post for my business page as well. I must admit it was very hectic (and truth be told it still is!), but it took a lot of time management and some consistency to get it started. Read more>>

I’m a master juggler. I have a marketing background, and naturally, I manage to create Sassy Ritual candles, take photos and videos, and build and manage the website. Social media is a part of the whole marketing plan. I have outsourced website photos and stock photos to a local photographer, but creating new products makes it hard to maintain. I have realized that the social media piece is probably something I could also outsource this coming year. Read more>>
