Shay, appreciate you joining us today. Can you recount a time when the advice you provided to a client was really spot on?
The best advice I ever gave a client was to trust me as their agent. And for the past 5 plus years this has worked for me. I have clients that have become family because I treated them as such. Family will always look out for each other and no matter what you always have a sense of comfort knowing that you have a person in your corner fighting for you. I value what I put out and I value what I put you in. Offering advice that not only will help you with that particular transaction but will help you along your journey moving forward is how my clientele continues to grow.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
Shay Dukes is a seasoned Leasing & Sales Associate with a backing in Luxury Mid & High Rise Property Management encompassing Austin,Copperas Cove, Harker Heights, and Killeen. The Killeen Native has overseen over 2 million square feet of office, industrial and retail space to include National Tenants such as the Carrier Enterprises, the NAPA Store, Johnstone Supply, the UPS Store, Metro T-Mobile, Marco’s Pizza, Back Porch Draft House, and countless others. Prior to her role as Managing Associate, Shay was an Associate Assistant for one of Coldwell Banker’s most prestigious Residential Sales Teams in Killeen Texas. Her primary responsibilities include a concentration in client and tenant relations, property management and personnel development. She has developed the skills that ensure the highest level of competence, time management and confidentiality. Having worked in an executive office, she has a vast understanding of the importance in acting as a liaison, allowing for Owners’ time to be maximized as well as assisting in any way she can to reach her company’s goals. She believes that her background in administration & customer service is a huge result of her leasing, sales and tenant retention skills. In her professional roles, she has demonstrated consistent success as a forward-thinking professional, dedicated team player and deal closer.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Last year almost to the date I thought I lost everything. I was let go from my previous employer with no notice while being at the top of my game. Nominated for best realtor by the black chamber of commerce, leasing over 35 commercial properties within 8 months, and working towards my brokers license this took a shot at not only my confidence but my spirit. I wanted to give up but thank god for my support system. And also thank god for making me a friendly and upbeat person. Because the same love I gave out so freely came boomeranging around in good karma. I landed back on my feet bigger and better than ever. I got a new position in Austin with Somerset Association Management as a Luxury Mid and High Rise Portfolio Manager. And I started my independent real estate journey with All City Real Estate thanks to Ron Cooks. I moved to a beautiful new home and I am the happiest I have ever been. When God sees better for you he will come in and cut ties with people or things that no longer serve the person you are becoming. Again none of this would have been possible without God & my family. They stood by me through it all.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth. My real estate journey didn’t happen over night. With any thing worth having you have to work hard to get where you want to be. I’m still learning. Im still laying a brick day by day. There’s no get rich quick scheme in real estate. You have to be consistent and always… ALWAYS stay a student. Social media is where people go to verify the things they have heard through word of mouth. So being active and interacting on these various platforms also can be beneficial to your business. Offering advice via my free game Fridays and motivation every Monday aids in building my clientele as well. Hopefully I have become a beacon to someone on their journey through real estate as an agent and as a client looking to buy, lease or sell.
