Today we’d like to introduce you to Taha Chanouha.
Hi Taha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started photography back in 2018 after suffering from severe depression due to heartbreak. I needed an outlet to express myself and found photography to be the most soothing. After falling in love with photo, the natural progression was to move into video and storytelling.
In 2022 I moved to Toronto, Canada where I decided to become a full time creator.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It is the hardest path you can take. You go through moments of comparing to others, of thinking you are not good enough and moments of doubt. Add to the fact that you need your work to get noticed and make enough money to survive in an economy that is becoming harder by the day.
You will also have critics and family members doubting what you are doing or the path you are taking.
It is genuinely the hardest path.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I started doing street photography, I wanted to just walk around and explore the city and people’s emotions and stories through frames. I slowly started to grow into different fields of photography such as portraiture and cinematic looking photos. My goal is to make photos look like they are stills from a movie!
I am proud that I have gained the trust of several people in the industry, and the fact that I am now working closely with Fujifilm Canada on projects and content creation.
I believe that authenticity and being genuine go a long way! People can tell one someone is fake, and I tend to be as honest and as real as possible.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Practice practice practice. Creativity is a muscle and as any muscle you need to train it and practice!
If there was one thing I wish I knew is that the rabbit hole goes deep, and once you’re striving for something, giving up is not an option! Keep pushing!
