Today we’d like to introduce you to Scotty Gaine$
Hi Scotty, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My love for music started from the earliest age I can remember. Even as a young kid I would sing along to all my favorite songs on the radio and know them word for word. At age 7 I began taking piano lessons and by 13 i began experimenting with writing my own rap songs in class. As I got older I started taking music more seriously and trying to replicate the sounds of my favorite artists in my own unique fashion. In 2022 I bought a Akai MPC Live 2 which changed the way I make music forever. I started sampling a lot of my favorite records, chopping them up, and rearranging the. music how I hear it in my head. This has opened up a whole new side of creativity within me. I also started incorporating the piano in a lot of my productions and learning to play covers of my own songs. My live shows have evolved over the past years with my acquisitions of new instruments and musical abilities.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most musicians the road has been up and down with a few bumps along the ways. In 2021 I experienced a lot of hardships going from homeless to living out of the truck with my wife Erika Gaine$ in Colorado. Through these times I learned to become strong in my heart and pursued my dream of music regardless of my circumstances. We sold cd’s at gas stations and malls just to put gas in the truck to keep warm and made a lot of fans and youtube subscriptions while doing it. We now have a 6 month old and currently live in my hometown of Bartlesville, Oklahoma where we have a home studio and continue to pursue the dream in full force.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets me apart from others is my unique sound that favors east coast hip hop but also infuses a lot of elements from other genres. I tend to mix rap with melodic hooks and bridges that form the basis of my music. I love to chop samples from other records as well and have been recently using a lot of vocal samples to convey the emotion I am feeling on the track. I am most proud of my music output the last 4 years as I have dropped over 200 songs and numerous albums all independently with the help of my wife and a few others.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learned along this journey is to keep going. Even when your tired and feel like giving up just keep pushing and good things will happen!
