Today we’d like to introduce you to Savana Bogue
Hi Savana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got started a little bit like everyone else, with a passion for art, comics and pop culture. But I also had a few less common influences, specifically from my grandmother who spent most of my youth as a traveling airbrush artist, and had done so for well before I came along.
Half growing up on a fair midway really influenced my desire to travel and make a living from my art. I had a stellar example, and took those lessons and converted them into the means to build and make my own booth for conventions.
It’s been a really long road, lots and lots of ups and downs and restarts for sure. Lots of learning on the fly; and even more adapting to unexpected circumstances.
And most importantly; I wouldn’t be where I am today without support of my friends and most importantly my mother.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not really! It’s been a steep learning curve for sure. When I started, there was a lot of gate keeping for sure. Finding printers for my art was a hit or miss, I started out printing at Office Depot!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I like drawing people! Specifically women, I like to draw the different curve and swells of the body. I’ve found lately I get a good number of complements on the folds and dips I give my women!
Most proud? That would be the fact that at comic conventions; I still offer on site commissions! I do them traditionally, and they often are done within an hour or two. People get really excited when they can get their original character drawn up that quickly!
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I find myself often watching twitch art streams for inspiration, and joining art focused discords of my friends and other artists I look up to.
