Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Chambers

Hi Sam, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?

Everyone draws when they’re a child, but true artists never put down those crayons, pens, markers and pencils. I’ve been making art since I was old enough to pick up a pencil. I grew up in a house with a variety of literature and film. Comics, children’s fantasy stories, Sci-fi/Fantasy movies, etc. So I was exposed to stories at a very young age and always had a passion for storytelling. That passion never went away and so here I am now still making comics like I have been since I was 9 years-old.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

Choosing to make art for a living is never a smooth road. You are constantly creating, always working, always doubting yourself and your work. All of it can be overwhelming and at times make you feel like you’re drowning in this pool of anxiety. To do this kind of work, you need tough skin, a strong support team, and the wisdom to know that the process takes time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

I am a cartoonist/illustrator. I specialize in creating art inspired by dark fantasy, fairy tales and folklore. My work is a homage to classic fairy tales in which it is rooted in horror, and ultimately teaches a lesson to both children and adults.
