Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray Jeremiah.
Hi Ray, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey in fashion styling about five years ago during the pandemic. With the world on lockdown and uncertainty looming, I turned to my closet for an escape. I started wearing my best outfits and posting them on social media. Gradually, I began gaining traction, and a male model asked if I would style him for a shoot.
Initially, I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew it was essential not to let self-doubt take over and always to put my best foot forward. To my surprise, the shoot was a success, and I finally felt as though I had discovered my true purpose.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Although fashion may seem glamorous, the journey has not been easy. There are moments of uncertainty; sometimes projects don’t go as planned, and you may feel a lack of passion for your work. However, I firmly believe in persevering and never giving up on what you believe is your calling in life. We must turn our lemons into lemonade and make the best of what we have. No Journey is ever easy, but as long you stay the course and believe in yourself you’ll make it to your designation.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a wardrobe stylist located in Chicago, IL. I specialize in editorial, high fashion, commercial and personal styling. My work has allowed me to work on multiple platforms across Television, Magazines, editorials, and runways. I have worked with some of the industry’s top creatives in the fashion world. What sets me apart in my field is my creativity in styling. I strive to differentiate myself by going against the norm for wardrobe stylists. I use my artistic skills to tell a story and elevate the overall concept of each shoot.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Believe it or not, I was a very shy kid growing up. However, I was also a very imaginative child. I created my world in my head. I would draw many different characters or images that I saw in magazines. Drawing was my escape from reality, and I often found comfort in it. So, it’s no surprise to me that I ended up in the fashion world.
