Today we’d like to introduce you to Neo Ernest Seekoei.
Hi Neo Ernest , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It’s your boy Ne-Oh from Pampierstad, TEN. Let me take you on this journey real quick.
I started off in the streets, just a kid with a dream and a passion for music. Growing up, I was surrounded by sounds that inspired me—everything from hip-hop to soul. I’d spend hours writing lyrics, trying to find my voice. The struggle was real; I faced challenges like anyone else, but that only fueled my fire.
I hit the local scene, performing at open mics and grinding hard to get my name out there. It wasn’t easy, but the love from my community kept me motivated. I recorded my first mixtape in my homie’s basement, and when it dropped, people started taking notice.
Then came the breaks—collaborations with other artists and getting my tracks played on the radio. Each step built my confidence and my fan base. I learned to embrace my unique style, mixing my Pampierstad roots with fresh beats and real-life stories.
Now, I’m here, dropping tracks that resonate with my experiences and the struggles of my people. I’m grateful for every moment and ready to keep pushing forward. This is just the beginning, and I’m excited for what’s next!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nah, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. The journey has been filled with ups and downs, but that’s what makes the story real.
One major struggle was the battle with self-doubt. There were times I questioned my talent and whether I’d ever make it out of Pampierstad. Watching others succeed while I was still grinding felt tough. Money was tight, so investing in my music—like studio time and promotion—was a constant struggle.
Then, there were personal challenges—losing friends, dealing with the pressures of life, and the weight of expectations. I had to learn to separate my passion from external opinions and stay true to myself. Rejection from labels and the industry was hard too; it pushed me to work even harder and refine my craft.
But every struggle taught me something valuable. I learned resilience and the importance of community. My people supported me through thick and thin, reminding me why I started this journey in the first place. It’s those experiences that shaped my music and my message, making it relatable to so many. So, while it hasn’t been easy, I wouldn’t trade the lessons for anything. They made me who I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I appreciate that! My work revolves around creating music that speaks to the heart and soul. I specialize in blending different genres—hip-hop, R&B, and a bit of that local Pampierstad flavor. I aim to craft tracks that not only get heads nodding but also resonate emotionally with listeners.
I’m known for my storytelling. I like to draw from my experiences and the experiences of my community. Whether it’s triumphs, struggles, or those everyday moments, I try to paint a vivid picture with my lyrics. My sound is unique because I incorporate local dialects and cultural references, giving my music an authentic vibe that feels like home to my listeners.
What I’m most proud of is how my music has brought people together. I’ve had fans tell me my songs helped them through tough times or inspired them to chase their dreams. That connection is everything to me.
What sets me apart from others is my authenticity. I’m not afraid to be vulnerable in my music. I talk about the real issues—mental health, community struggles, and personal growth. I strive to keep it genuine and relatable. Plus, my roots in Pampierstad give me a perspective that’s unique in the game. I’m just out here trying to represent and uplift my people while pushing boundaries with my sound. That’s what it’s all about! Voice Of the spirits.
