Today we’d like to introduce you to Negrita Smart
Hi Negrita, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a children’s book Author. In addition to being an Author, I am an Instructional Designer & Trainer. I have been very blessed to become a best-selling, award-winning Author. When I wrote the first book, Grace And The Golden Rule, I knew the story and main character were special but I am overwhelmed by the reception of the message from the five-year old little girl with a big heart. Since the year 2023, I have released a book every year. I have written a third book in the Grace series, Grace And The Power Of Prayer, which will be released February 5, 2025. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have learned a lot about myself along this Author journey because each book in the Grace series forces me to examine myself. The books force me to ask tough questions. Those questions have been: “Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?” “Do I make myself available to help others?” “Can I do more to make a difference?” It is important to me that I believe the stories I write and model those lessons.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the author of children books: Grace And The Golden Rule, Grace Loves Her Neighbor, and Grace And The Power Of Prayer. The third book in the series, Grace And The Power Of Prayer will be released February 5, 2025. The main character is five-year old Grace but a new character is introduced in the third book which will spin off the new character’s own series of books.
The book series is based on bible principles. Grace And The Golden Rule is based on “The Golden Rule.” Grace Loves Her Neighbor is based on the parable of “The Good Samaritan.” Grace And The Power Of Prayer is based on the parable of the “Importunate Friend.” Grace Loves Her Neighbor was recently honored with an award from The BookFest (Spring Awards) and the book cover was displayed in Times Square, New York on the NASDAQ billboard. Grace And The Golden Rule received the same award and honor (Fall Awards). I was thrilled to be acknowledged for my contribution to the world of literature and books along with other award recipients. The first two books in the series also received the ChrisLit Award in recognition of books written with Christian themes and messages.
Grace And The Golden Rule has been adapted for a movie. I am looking to connect with producers interested in a family, coviewing, Christmas movie.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
As relates to networking, I have connected with Authors by joining organizations and social media communities which have been very supportive. Although, we specialize in different genres, there is always something we can learn from each other.
