Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Rotella
Hi Mia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Mia Rotella-White, a 22-year-old fueled by a deep passion for family, resilience, and cultivating positive change. In 2024, I graduated with my MBA from the University of Nebraska Omaha, and in 2023, I married Josh White, the most supportive and loving husband. That same year, I published my book “Life with Louie- A Sister’s Story”, which tells the story of my brother Louie, who happened to be born with Down syndrome, and the love he’s brought into my life.
Growing up with Louie was never a burden; in fact, it filled my world with joy, laughter, and spontaneous dance parties that often turned ordinary days into unforgettable moments. Louie’s unique perspective on life brought a lightness and sense of fun to everything we did. Even in the face of challenges—whether they were big or small—we knew that no hardship could overshadow the bond we shared. His resilience and infectious positivity taught me that love, humor, and compassion are the most powerful tools to get through anything life throws our way.
My fight for Louie’s rights and for all those living with disabilities is ongoing. I will never back down from a fight, but I choose to fight with love and kindness, by leading the way. I aim to share a path with others that will truly change the world and make a difference. Louie has taught me that negative conflict only creates chaos, but sometimes, positive conflict—through healthy debate and conversation—can create beauty. A world where we embrace our differences and come together to be stronger.
“Life with Louie- A Sister’s Story” makes an impact not because of the force behind its fight, but because it touches the heart. And that’s exactly where real change begins. I aim to inspire hearts across the world and stand up for what’s right.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any entrepreneurial journey, mine has been filled with ups and downs. Balancing my fierce determination to fight for my brother’s rights while navigating a world that often didn’t understand him taught me resilience. The challenge wasn’t just advocating for Louie—it was also staying strong and focused without losing sight of the joy he brings to my life.
At times, anxiety tried to get the best of me. The weight of responsibility, the uncertainty, and the stress would creep in. But through it all, my faith has remained my foundation. Each morning, I start my day by thanking God for my life, my purpose, and my family. That practice keeps me grounded and reminds me of what truly matters. When anxiety starts to overwhelm me, I turn to prayer, which brings me back to the center and helps me refocus.
In business, I’ve faced challenges that seemed impossible to overcome. But every time I feel weighed down by stress or adversity, my faith, and Louie’s lightheartedness remind me that true strength comes from compassion, humor, and the unwavering belief that love, faith, and resilience will always carry me through.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In 2023, I published “Life with Louie- A Sister’s Story,” a heartfelt tribute to my brother Louie, who happened to be born with Down syndrome. The book shares our journey growing up together, highlighting the joy, laughter, and love he has brought into my life. “Life with Louie- A Sister’s Story” is more than just a story—it’s a message of advocacy, resilience, and the power of connection. Through the pages, I hope to inspire others to see the beauty in differences, fight for the rights of those with disabilities, and embrace the laughter that makes life brighter. My work is an ongoing mission to create change, one heart at a time, by sharing our story with the world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
While determination and hard work have played a significant role in my journey, I can’t discount the role of luck. Having Louie as my brother feels like the luckiest part of my life. He wasn’t just born into my family—he was a gift that taught me more about leadership, creativity, and compassion than any formal education could. In entrepreneurship, I’ve had opportunities come my way that felt like they were meant to be. But luck, in my story, is less about chance and more about the people around me, especially Louie, who have lifted me up, inspired me, and helped me see the world through a lens of positivity and endless possibilities.
