Melyana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

It started with me longing to have my own business, but I didn’t know what business was best for me. I prayed to the Lord Jesus asking me to have my own business that only involved Jesus and me. 2 weeks later I got an email about a cake making and decorating class, and I decided to take the class. I felt a heart full of joy in making cakes. I started making cakes at home with high-quality ingredients, without using preservatives. The result I had I shared cakes with friends and family. They said the cakes I made were very delicious, soft and moist. They said they had never tasted a cake like the one I made. From there I got cake orders from several friends and family. And I decided to pursue this cake business along with the guidance that the Lord Jesus gave, over time, this cake business grew rapidly.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

This business journey went smoothly even though there were a few challenges because the price was not cheap because we used high-quality ingredients. But over time and maintaining the quality of the cake with high-quality ingredients, finally many of them were able to accept the price of the premium cake.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

I am the CEO, Baker and Cake Decorator of J & Me Cake, Inc. We specialize in cakes and custom cakes. We are known for: 1. Our various premium cakes from Indonesia, one of which is called Indonesian Layer Cake (Old Surabaya Layer Cake). 2. Custom cakes for various small and large events such as: Weddings, Birthdays, Baby Showers, Engagements, Anniversaries, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. 3. Serving beautiful cake decorations and also very delicious cakes. What I am most proud of is the presence of God that I feel at all times and the deliciousness and perfection of the texture of our cakes. What sets us apart from others is that we make various premium cakes from Indonesia that are very delicious and so far I have never found this type of cake (deliciousness, perfect texture, soft and moist) in other stores.

What makes you happy?

I am happy because God is with me so my business is growing. God also gave me the talent to bake and create my perfect cake recipe.
