Today we’d like to introduce you to Me’lo The Generation Hero
Hi Me’lo The, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Me’Lo The Generation Hero. Me’Lo is an acronym for (Manifesting. Elevation. Loving. Optimistically.) My Dad taught me how to rhyme at the age of 4. I was heavily influenced by down south, Midwest, and east coast MC’s and I’ve been in love with the art form ever since. I released my first project called Elevation The ep in 2019 (which will be rereleased May 31st). I am currently working on my second project called S.D.S (Self Development Season.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As an independent artist the goal is to create smooth roads. I study the game as much as possible wondering how can I stand out to become a trendsetter. Following the crowed is easy. I like the hard way. I like doing my own thang and embracing individuality especially as a woman in hip-hop. The struggle was budgeting. Now that I understand the concept of investing into myself nothing can stop me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a spoken word, composer, and performing artist from Chicago. I specialize in motivation, inspiration, and encouragement. I am known for uplifting my community through music and social events that provided substance to needihoods. I am most proud to be alive declaring the works of the Lord. I am proud of myself for riding my own wave, for being forgiving, and loving without any boundaries. I am proud of myself, and my constant yearn for growth and development, and I love to share. I am proud to share this music with the world. Oh, and I can’t forget I am proud to be a beautiful black woman!
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I just finished Newyork best time seller “Piecing Me Together” by Renee Watson. Up from slavery by Booker T. Washington is an all-time favorite of mine. Anybook written by Fredrick Douglas is awesome. I love black history. Oh, and books about faith, leadership, and wellness are my favorite after black history.
