Today we’d like to introduce you to Marita Karpetta.
Hi Marita, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a professional actress and content creator living in an island called Cyprus. I am a graduate of Acting Coach Scotland holding a Professional Diploma on Stage and Screen Acting. Moreover I have over 2 years of experience as a Video Specialist / Actress in one of the largest online media companies worldwide – Thesoul Publishing, where I was a part of the development of multi million views Youtube channels called La La Life and La La Life Games.
I also have experience in multiple projects such as Music Video clips, short films, feature film and theatre shows.
I got this year my 2 first awards which are: ”Best Female Model” and ”Best Role Model in Fashion” from 2 festivals one from the Cyprus Fashion Film Festival and the other is the Youth Role Model Awards.
Currently as a full time job I am a Brand Manager in an Affiliate Marketing company for the financial industry. How I got there? Here in Cyprus there are no major acting opportunities to do it full time so I had to do something else to have money. I am trying to grow on social media though as a digital / UGC creator to switch the career there that is more creative.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were and are still struggles on the way to my goal. First of all is that all the acting opportunities are abroad and not in my home country which is very difficult as the countries I want to go to like London and America are way too far and too expensive to move without a job. And, if I do move I need to have the time to focus on auditions and on creating content no working a 9-6 job which also kills my brain cells and creativity.
I am really struggling every day to do something I do not love, not even in the direction or path to where I want to be. My goal and dream is to be one of the greatest actresses and do just be in productions not working as a robot in front of a laptop 9 hours a day.
I am working on saving money at the moment and doing everything I can to change the path im taking to end up doing what I love.
I know there is a lot of struggle in the Acting Industry of course such as auditions, finding agents, getting roles, but I am very confident and stubborn for that so I do not mind failure as long as it is in the right direction.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional actress and content creator. I am also known as a model lately because I am doing some fashion short films and photoshootings.
I am most proud of the 2 awards I got this year from 2 different festivals – Youth Role Model Awards and Cyprus Fashion Film Festival where I got rewarded as the best female model.
I am also very proud of the positive and special feedback I always receive regarding my work as an actress, it means and reminds me that the talent is there and it’s not just confidence, it is visible to others too.
What I believe sets me apart from others is my strong belief and my hard work. Also I take direction extremely well.
I really do believe in myself but my confidence is more grounded, I am not one of these over-confident actors, I am confident in my own way and I am really enjoying teamwork and taking advices and direction.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Regarding good luck is all the support I got from my family and especially my mother. She is always telling me to do what I love, always supporting everything I do and always believing in me. Also my friends, I have a very supportive group of friends that also believe in me and are here for me at any of my struggles.
Regarding bad luck honestly it’s just the fact that I am living in a small island far away from opportunities without the financial ability to travel freely and run for castings.
