Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Harris
Hi Marcus, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started using a camera because while managing music artist because it was hard and very expensive to keep calling a photographer to follow us around to shows. I only planned to use the camera to take a few pictures at music events but my love for art took it a little further. I opened up one door after another until I was well known as a photographer. Still till this day I continue to look for new doors to open.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Have you seen the road in your city? There is never a smooth road. I have had many frustrating experiences but, in the end, they were all lessons that helped me be a better person
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I like to call myself simply an artist. I don’t really have a category that I like to stay in when it comes to art. I can do portraits one day and creative edits the next day. I want to specialize in more than one category. Because of that I am able to take many jobs that need my creative process. I am most proud of sticking to what I wanted to accomplish. I made a goal and 0nce I finished that goal I made another. What sets me apart is I stay humble. No matter what I have accomplished or the people I have worked with, the places I have traveled to, I stay humble like its day one.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk taking is scary and it is something I had to learn to do. I did not use to take big risk, just small ones that wouldn’t affect me too much. But it got to the point where I was stuck in the same category in life. Believing in yourself is probably one of the biggest risks taking you can do. Once you actually believe in yourself and the work you are doing, life will flow like it is supposed to.
