Today we’d like to introduce you to Louise Becker.
Hi Louise , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey began in northern Germany, where I spent my childhood. My passion for music emerged early on. I took piano lessons as a child, but the routine of it made it hard for me to get excited about it. However, it gave me the foundation to start writing songs. Singing, on the other hand, was always my joy—I sang all the time, and it quickly became clear that music was the path I wanted to follow. After dreaming about it for years, in the summer of 2022, I made the decision to move to New York City. I’m now studying music at the School of Jazz and performing my music and constantly writing songs. This year, I released two songs and have been growing continuously, discovering more about myself and the artist I aspire to become.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an artist and a human being in this world was not always a smooth ride for me. I’ve often wrestled with self-doubt, questioning my abilities and the path I’ve chosen. As a child, my sensitivity felt like a heavy burden, but I’ve come to see it as a powerful source of inspiration for my artistry.
The past few years have brought many challenges that seemed to push me off course. On top of that, navigating life in New York City during my 20s, far from home, has been a challenge all its own. While I’m not yet where I want to be, I’m deeply grateful for the twists and turns along the way—they’ve shaped my journey and continue to teach me valuable lessons.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
While music is my primary focus, I prefer to describe myself as a creative rather than just a musician, as I don’t want to confine myself to a single label. I find joy in so many different forms of art. Singing and songwriting are my greatest passions, but after moving to New York, I also fell in love with theater, acting, and dance. Additionally, writing has become another creative outlet that I hold close to my heart.
When I’m not creating or performing, I dedicate time to mindfulness. I’m deeply fascinated by the human mind and how cultivating a deeper connection with ourselves and others can help create a better world. This commitment to mindfulness is central to my work and artistry, forming the foundation of everything I do.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Trusting that things will align in my favor is an important part of my life. I truly believe that if we communicate with the universe, it will bring us a lot of good. But I also know it’s important not to depend on that alone. It takes hard work to get where you want to be, and you have to keep going even when it feels like luck isn’t on your side. In the end, though, I believe everything happens the way it’s meant to.
