Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie Motley.
Hi Kylie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I used to be an expert at suppressing my feelings and acting like I was ‘over the moon’ and in love with the life I lived. Handing out my energy to others as if it was endless … yet I struggled to see that I was constantly running out of my own supply . My effervescence drastically dwindled day in and day out. I feared facing the truth that I was uncomfortable in my own skin and could not fathom the idea of pouring energy into myself first before others. Like a game of dodgeball , I did everything I could to avoid being hit with my emotions that felt like they were aggressively being thrown at me. Eventually, the dodging no longer worked and I was hit HARD with the harsh reality that I could not hide from these feelings forever. Followed with the realization that I was not only carrying the weight of my own emotions but also the weight of the world around me.
I was then introduced to the term “empath” – a highly sensitive person and things began to make sense!!! I was not alone, not cursed and most definitely not selfish for taking time to learn how to love myself. Instead of filling my mind up with old negative thoughts that did not serve me, I courageously created new ones. I journeyed into the realm of spirituality, manifestation, self love, and mindfulness. My days quickly turned into endless learning and feeding my soul with what felt good for ME by listening to podcasts about self growth, reading, taking classes, joining Facebook groups and chatting with like minded people. That journey into pulling my dark untouched thoughts out of “the abyss” and into the light was pivotal. It opened my eyes to seeing that I am an eternal spiritual being experiencing a temporary human life . Might as well get to know and love who I am, after all I will be with her for the rest of my life.
Today, I intuitively read tarot and continue my journey of self-discovery, sharing that experience with the world. I’m constantly drawn to new ideas and evolving beliefs. Through this process, I’ve come to understand that growth is a never-ending journey—it’s the very essence of what we, as humans, are here to do: to evolve. Whenever I think I’ve reached a point where I’m “done growing” or have learned all my lessons, life presents new opportunities to level up even further.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all but metaphorically, I think that some of the most beautiful views are worth the hike up . The most prevalent obstacle I have faced is myself – getting in my own way . Growing up, my family had always preached college, hard work and needing a “proper” education in order to be successful. So I had become domesticated into this belief that I must work really hard in order to get where I want to be. Which ultimately led me to making things harder for myself instead of the good ol “work smarter not harder” ideology . I am still learning how to go about growing a business, running a business, and all things on that level without feeling the need to pour every ounce of my being into it. I remind myself that having fun and continuing to live my life while working is just as important. As well as returning to my why and reconnecting with the purpose for my actions.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I like to call my genre of work “spiritual support”. A way of helping people deepen their relationship to themselves through releasing subconscious beliefs & shifting into a positive growth mindset. I believe that making friends with your fears and integrating the shadow aspects of self into the light … one can reach a point of unconditional love and freedom.
I specialize in providing intuitive tarot readings, utilizing my intuition to tap into the other beings energy and tarot cards as a tool for relaying the messages. When combining the two, I am able to affirm one’s path, provide action steps to take, or give insight on what to expect in the near future. I always preface that tarot will tell you what you already know, yet sometimes we need another human to reflect our light back to us and bring us to terms with where we are at / where we are going. My goal is to be a temporary tour guide that provides tools to assist you in returning home to yourself.
I am proud of myself for taking the leap of faith to start reading publicly in the first place. Tarot has a way of telling people what they need to hear yet not always what they want to hear. So, I used to have a fear of receiving backlash for being the one to bluntly provide guidance. I have received the complete opposite and gotten an abundance of gratitude from those who receive readings. Being able to provide a safe space for people to face emotions head on , acknowledge their growth and see the love they are made of is beyond rewarding. If I would have kept this “gift” a secret and never shared it , so many beings would still be in the dark and it may have taken them longer to go after their dreams or make a change in life.
I’ve created a unique way of reading tarot that goes beyond traditional methods. Here is what I find to make receiving a reading with me both unique and comfortable. First off, I will never ask you to explain why you are getting a reading or tell me information prior. Instead, I invite you to set an intention for the reading which can be stated in your head or out loud. I also will never ask for you to elaborate on what came up after the reading . It is none of my business how the reading resonated with you, although you are more than welcome to share. Strong emotions such as tears may come to the surface, this is a safe space to let them flow freely without any judgement or shame. My goal is to hold space for one to move through difficult emotions while encouraging them to authentically express their feelings. I stray away from using traditional definitions of the cards and instead combine the energy I am picking up from the client along with whatever the picture is portraying. I also never limit the amount of cards used or stick to a specific arrangement for laying the cards down. Sometimes, half a deck is needed to construe a message and other times only 5 cards are needed. It fluctuates between people and every reading is going to be different. Overall, I intend to create a safe, welcoming space for beings from all walks of life to pause for a moment and dive into what is going on below the surface.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
