Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystle Robinson-hershey
Hi Krystle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Sage& Elm Apothecary from a place of therapeutic healing. While in the thicket of watching my brother battle addiction, I began making products to cope. While coping I was sharing products with friends and family. As products sold people seemed to enjoy them. I continued to just dabble and create. I shortly lost my little brothers to addiction and decided go take action. My desires were to connect people on their mental health journey to balance and well being while using plants to nourish individuals from the inside out. Once I began to create from plants, the products that others connected with allowed Sage & Elm Apothecary to grow into a brand and lifestyle.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Sage & Elm Apothecary has faced many challenges over the years. We were ridiculed for not creating soap in perfect squares and textures. I was challenged on my abilities, and told my products didn’t fit standards. In order to attend one of my first market/shows I sold almost everything I had that was not needed to cover the cost of attendance and supplies. The show was a hit, we sold out of some products on day one. Sage & Elm Apothecary continued to grow, acquire assets, and expand its product line to meet customers needs.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My background in arts/entertainment, education, business, and clinical psychology allowed me to breathe a unique perspective and style into Sage & Elm Apothecary. My background in acting, helped me to share my story, while working in education allowed me to teach others from a variety of methods, as I continued to work in business at an executive level, I was concerned about the mental health of those I encountered. I decided to complete graduate school, and began my doctorate, and Sage & Elm Apothecary was born. It was very important that I care for people through plants, while designing and engaging others through story telling, and colors are whimsical. The most important ingredient is culture, and plants supporting the well being on their mental health journey.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Working with my great grandmother hearing stories about herbs and plants, sewing pillows and cooking with her will always remain my heart.
