Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristi Pearce
Hi Kristi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey started when I was nine years old, and my grandmother taught me now to crochet. I fell in love, and have been crocheting for two decades.
I love making small plushies and figurines, and that opened the door for me to start my 3D printing business. I had been selling my crochet items at vendor events, so I started bringing 3D prints as well. They turned out to be very successful, so I pivoted to specializing in 3D prints.
Now I have my Fantasy Pet Store, where I dress as a fairy and sell 3D printed dragons and creatures, educating others in the 3D printing process, and bringing a little bit of fantasy into everyday life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Affording multiple 3d printers has been a huge struggle, so my growth for my business has been slow. That being said, I’ve received a tremendous amount of support from my customers, my followers in instagram, and my family.
The amount of excitement and love I’ve received for my business concept has been a dream come true.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Some people think 3D Printing is a lazy endeavor, as far as creativity goes. After all, a machine is creating the end product. The concept of selling 3D printed dragons and the like is also becoming increasingly more common on sites like Etsy.
So in an effort to set myself apart, and add extra creative flair to my work, I focus on the little details of each print. I spend hours in 3D modeling software making sure each pet has unique characteristics, because that’s what people look for when they’re shopping for a real pet!
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the diversity and acceptance of our community. No matter where you look, you’ll find people with similar interests in seemingly niche parts of culture. I’ve met elderly ladies that adore opossums, children who can tell me fascinating facts about spiders, people who collect frog figurines, and everything in between.
The unifying factor being passion. Everyone has things that they love, and my hope is that everyone can find something they love when they walk into the Fantasy Pet Store.
(I would say my least favorite part about the city is the summer heat!)
