Today we’d like to introduce you to Kir Tuben
Hi Kir, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was always super enamored with the arts. In 2007 I was lucky enough to attend Duke University and majored in documentary studies. During my time there I created documentaries, worked at art museums, taught photography abroad, and had plenty of time in the dark room. After gaining my art degree, I worked in New York City at Vh1 photo and then on a movie set and decided it wasn’t the environment I wanted to create in. In 2015 I started photographing friends engagements and weddings and the rest is more or less history.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Photography has always been an absolute joy but entrepreneurship is definitely a struggle. You have to wear all of the hats. You are the HR department, you are the creative department, you’re also the finance department. My favorite quote is “you quit your 9 to 5 to work 24/7” and a lot of days that feels true.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think a lot of what set me apart as a wedding professional is my ability to empathize with all types of people. I don’t have a traditional background or upbringing in my own family life so I can walk into pretty much any room, sense the trauma or pain point and pretty much effortlessly ease that tension.

Right now, I’m reading Unreasonable Hospitality, and it’s absolutely fantastic. I also love Atomic Habits. Pretty much any nonfiction business and self-help genre is what I consume.
