Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Grimes
Hi Kiara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The more my journey continues the more I realize how early my journey began. Ever since I was a little girl singing in the elementary talent shows and performing in dance recitals I was always subconsciously preparing myself to be a performer! As I’m getting older I’m understanding and witnessing the power of networking. One thing can always lead to another and I’m excited to see what’s next!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. Some struggles a long the way had to do with trusting people who may not have deserved my trust. I ended up losing all the music I had worked on for 2 years and now am starting over. I am now finding out that an obstacle can also be a blessing in disguise.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
For work I have my full time 9-5 plus I teach dance a few days a week! The 9-5 is to keep me alive and my part time helps taps into my creative side. I’ve always been someone who had multiple jobs at a time but teaching dance is something I’ll always be doing. I’m proud that I continue to stick with teaching dance! I see how much joy it brings the kids and that is the best part. I hope to impact their life like some of my dance teachers growing up impacted me!
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I’ve learned a lot due to Covid-19. I’ve learned the importance of educating yourself and learning to be self sufficient. When we were stuck in quarantine we weren’t able to see the people who we relied on to be successful. For example, if I wanted to continue recording music, but I don’t know how to record, then I’m out of luck in a time like Covid-19. I now have my own set up and I am continuing to learn how to do things on my own so I won’t have to rely on anyone else!
