Today we’d like to introduce you to KateLyn Costa.
Hi KateLyn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a highly sensitive person, I’ve always experienced life with incredible intensity—every emotion, every moment I’ve felt deeply. Growing up in a challenging household, I struggled with anxiety and overwhelm and I spent my 20s searching for healing across various cultures, continents and therapeutic modalities.
It wasn’t until I had just about given up that I found Breathwork – actually, it found me. During a period of complete emotional exhaustion and overwhelm, a friend randomly suggested I try a Breathwork session. I had no idea what Breathwork was aside from what I’d experienced in Yoga classes, though at this point I was willing to try anything and said yes.
That single experience transformed my life and its trajectory. I reconnected with my body after years of dissociation and discovered a profound sense of self-connection I’d never known before. I felt a sense of peace for the first time.
This was my personal awakening, and it transformed into a deep calling. Driven by a desire to help others, I dedicated myself to sharing the power of Breathwork, realizing that many people were suffering just as I had been.
My practice and business has naturally evolved – from online sessions during the pandemic to now focusing on powerful in-person group experiences, where I’ve witnessed the incredible healing potential of community connection through monthly events and retreats.
After guiding many in-person sessions, participants began to ask for recordings and ongoing support. I heeded the call and developed an app offering daily practices, where I add new sessions monthly. This resource allows people to stay consistent with their Breathwork practice, offering opportunity for growth, all from the comfort of their own homes.
Today, my work is driven by a simple yet profound belief: that everyone has the innate capacity for deep, transformative healing when given the right support and space.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh, goodness – the road has been anything but smooth! Honestly, that’s been the beauty of it, though it has caused me many nights of sleeplessness and heartache.
When I first started guiding Breathwork, my deepest fear was whether I was truly “enough” and if I would “make it.” The imposter syndrome was real, and one of my first big hurdles. I found myself constantly wondering if I could really hold space for others while I was still healing myself. I wondered if I “knew enough”. I had doubts about my knowledge, my ability to hold space, and my capacity to guide people through such intimate experiences.
I also felt an internal pressure to be perfect, to have it all figured out. As I grew, though, I found out that the irony of it is that the only way to the other side was through. At the end of the day, we’re all working through something, and that’s precisely what makes this work so beautiful and authentic. My own imperfections aren’t a weakness—they’re my greatest strength and connection to those I guide.
Aside from personal challenges, the technical side of building my business was another hurdle. Learning to work on the app with my developer, set up recording systems, and navigate other technical logistics felt like learning a completely new language. I’ve had many moments of frustration and overwhelm and I’ve made a lot of mistakes. Sometimes the sheer amount of work that needs to be done, from marketing, designing, creating, etc, is overwhelming in itself!
Building something so deeply personal also means being constantly vulnerable. Each session feels like I’m offering a piece of my soul, which can be very revealing and scary at times. In the beginning I often questioned everything and whether I was doing things “right,” though these moments come much less often these days.
Lastly, turning my passion into a sustainable business meant countless hours of work with no guarantee of success. There were moments where I wanted to give up, though my commitment to the greater good is what keeps me going. It’s a deeper call, something difficult to put into words.
In the end, here’s what I’ve learned: showing up in all my imperfect glory and doubts is infinitely more powerful than not showing up at all and giving up. Every struggle has been a teacher. It’s deepened my practice, expanded my capacity for compassion, and ultimately strengthened my belief in the transformative power of Breathwork.
All of my challenges have been the very path to my own growth – no one ever grows when they’re comfortable. Every moment of doubt and uncertainty, every tear, has been a gift, helping me become not just a better Breathwork guide, but a more authentic human.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I guide people through Transformational Breathwork Experiences, primarily through in-person sessions, retreats, private group sessions for businesses, friends, and family, and my Breathwork App, BWK (available on iOS and Android). My signature sessions have been coined as “soul-stirring”, and are designed to help you awaken your power, live fully, feel lighter and more free, and most importantly, connect to yourself. Each session is guided by powerful music, thoughtful meditations, and intentional words – a combination that supports participants in deep transformation and healing.
What truly sets me apart is my heart-centered, intuitive approach to Breathwork and powerful playlists. I create experiences that are deeply moving, embodying a soft, feminine energy that invites participants to embrace their own emotions and inner worlds without judgment. My meticulously crafted playlists are a signature element, carefully designed to match the rhythm of the breath pattern and evoke profound emotional journeys, creating a truly immersive experience. For each session I also create a unique meditation that supports participants to embody the specific intention of our journey together.
It’s not just the session that’s powerful, it’s also the sacred spaces I create to support profound healing and transformation. Whether through private group sessions for teams or corporate wellness experiences, friends and family, retreats, in-person group sessions or daily practices on the BWK App, the space is an important part of this carefully orchestrated journey. All of this together is designed to help participants tap into their body’s innate ability to heal, restore balance, process trauma, shift limiting emotional patterns, and access deeper levels of awareness and inner wisdom.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to show up authentically and continue moving forward, even in moments of doubt or difficulty. I’m honored to have witnessed countless transformations and humbled by the trust others place in me to hold this sacred space.
Beyond the techniques and experiences, what matters most is the genuine connection, love, and compassion I bring to every session. These values are the true heart of my work—something I’m proud to embody consistently and wholeheartedly.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is connection – in all its beautiful forms. Whether it’s sharing a meaningful conversation with a loved one, traveling to new places and experiencing different cultures, or simply being present in nature.
I find profound joy in the simple moments: watching a snowflake drift silently to the ground, smiling at a stranger, sharing a meal, or feeling fully alive while witnessing a sunset or watching the trees sway in the breeze.
These moments remind me that life is about authentic connection – with others, with the world around us, and most importantly, with ourselves. There’s a magic in those genuine connections and this is what fills my heart, softens it so I can love more fully.
Whether I’m cooking a meal with loved ones, hiking and exploring nature, or discovering a new restaurant, it’s the shared experience and the presence that brings me the deepest happiness.
When it comes down to it, what lights me up is the ability to be fully present, to be fully me – to feel, to experience, to connect deeply with the world, the people around me, and myself.
