Today we’d like to introduce you to Kat Tischler
Hi Kat , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started The Simplified Life in 2007 as a home-organizing company. After an event in 2022 made me simplify and reimagine my own life completely, I decided a core tenant of The Simplified Life was “play”. My soul craved it, and I decided to dust off my turntables and DJ controller.
After 10 years away from DJing publicly, I launched Startdust Ranch Retreats and my Twitch channel in January of this year.
Who knew I’d be having the time of my life and connecting with so many amazing people around the world and locally? Bringing them good music to simplify too and retreats to heal through.
We now focus on “simplify, heal, play” as our ethos.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I lost everything in 2022 and was forced to rebuild from the ground up. Looking back after 2 years, it was the best thing that could have happened.
Sometimes life forces our hands to make changes and as Steve Jobs said “you can only connect the dots looking backward”.
I’m grateful for the challenges for they have led me to figure out what I want this next chapter to look like and how I can best show up to help clients simplify, heal, and play.

Now that we’re focusing on the “play” aspect at The Simplified Life, it’s allowed me to DJ full-time on Twitch as teknokat222. I’ve had a “quit work, make music” sticker for my entire adult life, and I’m finally doing it. I DJ your decluttering while creating an inclusive community on Twitch and in our Discord.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I joke that as a Kat, I’ve had 9 lives. I always land on my feet and I feel that stubbornness and willingness to evolve and try new things have been the most important qualities. Plus putting the focus on others, my success is tied to my community feeling seen, valued, and loved.
They may never declutter a single thing, but if my music and DJing have helped them get through a rough day, then wow, what more could I ask for?
