Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Arce.

Hi Jess, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
3D Learning Experts was born out of a deep passion to make the journey of Dyslexia easier for families and a desire to create a supportive, effective learning environment for students with learning challenges like Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia. Jess Arce, the founder and America’s Dyslexia Expert, has a personal and professional background that uniquely qualifies her to understand the challenges faced by students with Dyslexia and other learning differences.

Initially, Jess started tutoring two of her own kids. While having a conversation with another mom as they waited for their children who were taking a homeschool class, Jess mentioned that it sounded like Dyslexia. Within a few weeks, she began tutoring that mom’s child. Word spread quickly from one mom to another, turning Jess’s need to help her own children into an opportunity to help others.

Having four children with a total of nine neurodiversities, Jess was intimately familiar with the struggles and triumphs of tailoring education to fit a child’s individual needs. Her personal journey, as a Dyslexic herself and married to a Dyslexic, combined with her dedication to continuous learning and improvement, led her to develop a company that caters to teaching students using multisensory approaches that truly resonate with them. After receiving her certification as a Barton Tutor and Dyslexia Screener in 2015, Jess began training her staff of expert educators to help students in Orange County, California with a handful of virtual students. When COVID shut the world down, Jess quickly pivoted to a 100% virtual company that now helps struggling students throughout the United States.

Jess’s approach is rooted in the Orton-Gillingham method, which emphasizes personalized, multisensory instruction. This method, known for its effectiveness in teaching reading and spelling to students with Dyslexia, forms the backbone of the programs at 3D Learning Experts. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Initially, there weren’t many challenges with starting the company because there was such a high demand for my specialized tutoring. The biggest obstacle I faced was adjusting to how much busier I became than expected. This required some changes in my kids’ homeschooling routine. At first, they stayed in their rooms quietly while I tutored in the living room. This worked for a few hours a day of tutoring but quickly became an issue as my roster grew to include 30 hours of student sessions. I moved the business to a commercial location, and my kids were able to be picked up by their homeschool friends’ moms to attend field trips and park days. These adjustments allowed me to balance my growing business while ensuring my children continued to receive the educational and social experiences they needed.
