Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Gifford
Hi Jenna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
For years, I was completely lost and alone. I was trapped in student loan debt, working in jobs I hated just to pay the bills, and I repeatedly found myself in toxic relationships. I masked my emotions with unhealthy coping mechanisms like drugs, alcohol, and overworking. Ignoring my intuitive hunches led to a string of terrible decisions, trapping me in a relentless cycle of stress. After years (and years!) of discouragement, I finally took charge of my life. I read and practiced as much as I could about self-development, worked with a therapist, and began asking myself introspective questions to discover: Who am I?
Fast forward 5 years…The result: A happy, healthy, empowered, and confident version of me who makes decisions that align perfectly with my life and dreams, surrounded by friends and family who support and love me.
I created Zia Mira as a resource for personal development and self-worth. I believe that self-love is the foundation for a fulfilling and authentic life. My mission is to provide you with resources, skills, and materials to discover the most important person in your life, YOURSELF.
My mission is to inspire and guide you to embrace your true worth, nurture self-compassion, and ensure that your external life perfectly aligns with who you are on the inside.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! I struggled to figure out who I was for a long time. Because I had so much debt right out of school, I worked in jobs that didn’t really fit me as a person but I needed the money to pay my bills. I failed a few businesses along the way as well. It took a long time to learn who I was and unlearn the societal beliefs that were programmed into me at a young age. I lost all my money a couple of times and I learned with each mistake. It’s just part of it!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love thinking of an idea and bringing it to life. I guess that is the definition of an entrepreneur. I feel accomplished in going from the idea stage to the physical product. That makes me proud and happy. I would say that I am known for having wild ideas and jumping on them right away. I am not scared to fail and I will go all in if I am passionate about it. Because I have done so many things in my career life, I have an extensive range of experiences that give me knowledge in different areas.
How do you think about happiness?
I’m a southern girl at heart so mostly the simple things in life. I love cooking, baking, and eating super healthy food so I am always researching and learning new recipes and sharing the food with friends and family. I am passionate about health and the body so I am fascinated when I learn new things.
I love sitting with my friends and chatting and laughing. It could be at our house in our pj’s eating together. Those are the memories I treasure the most because they are raw and real. There’s nothing to hide and people can just be themselves.
I love taking walks in nature with my boyfriend and our dog. It’s always been our thing to just chat about life and walk together wherever we are in the world.
Traveling and meeting new people. I love getting to know someone on a deeper level. I love it when people tell me their fears, secrets, talk to me about their childhood, all of the juicy stuff. People tell me some crazy things because I am a great listener and I ask questions. Most people just want to be heard and understood so I give them a safe space to do that.
Oh and I love a good square of dark chocolate :) That makes me happy.
