Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerda.
Hi Gerda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Gerda Carina’s journey as an artist is a fascinating tale that began when she discovered her passion for portrait photography at the age of 12. After graduating high school, she took a leap and flew to London for the first time with a one way ticket.
London became the backdrop for her growth as a portrait photographer, as she worked with unexpected individuals and honed her skills in filmmaking and collaboration with other professionals.
Driven by her adventurous spirit, she traveled the world, immersing herself in diverse cultures and living in different countries such as Monaco, Dubai, Morocco, Bali. These experiences became the wellspring of inspiration for her powerful, transformative and unique wall art with 22 and 24K Gold.
She has also been mentoring creatives and photographers all around the world. Helping creatives who feel stuck, struggle with blocks, want to increase their financial abundance, need practical tips on how to become more visible, attract the right clients and so much more.
The most familiar names in her portfolio are Esteban Ocon, Versace, Vogue Arabia, Deepika
Padukone, Liam Payne, Dermot Kennedy, Rita Ora, Brooklyn Beckham, Wallis Day, Little
Dragon, Britain’s Next Top Model, Goodwood Revival and many more.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not smooth at all!
I used to be a people’s pleaser. That’s a shortcut to burning out fast!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a creative.
I started taking portraits when I was 12 years old. So I’ve been doing this professionally for over a decade. I now also mentor other photographers and creatives through workshops and courses. I find it extremely important to share your knowledge once you feel like you have some value to give back to people who need it!
I also paint with 24K Gold and held my first exhibition in Dubai only after 4 months of starting to paint. Lesson here is to network and just do it.
I’m proud of still having the desire to continue being a creative even though the path hasn’t been easy to walk.
I believe that my confidence sets me apart from many other creatives. Confidence grows with experience, so throw yourself into situations that are not familiar and create a way out.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Go to where your target is. Attend events, build connections, communicate, be open, approach people, learn how to small-talk even if you don’t like it, carry beautifully designed business cards with you at all times that you can give out.
Mentor normally appears when you’re ready and asking for it.
