Today we’d like to introduce you to Frances Young
Hi Frances, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In my own words, this is a snapshot of my story and official biography to date:
All I wanted, was to be a ballerina.
I’ve been a dancer since the age of seven, I went to The Quinte Ballet School of Canada, followed by The School of Contemporary Dancers to pursue the love of moving my body as an expression of art. All I wanted was to be paid to dance! But, as time passed, my soul longed for more. It wasn’t just about doing what I loved, it became about wanting to help people.
It wasn’t until 2011 at 19, I learned the fundamentals of Crossfit, that the idea of fitness as a living occurred to me. A few years later, I started working as a personal trainer with people from all backgrounds, body types, and personalities. I loved it. I was living a healthy, proactive and productive life, however something was missing. A nagging feeling of un-fulfillment followed me as I worked to burnt-out and tried everything to find an answer as to ‘why’.
By 2019, I’d had enough. I’d called my mom in tears, overwhelmed and confused. I had the business, partner, home and all the other fixings that should have equaled happiness. So I left Canada in search of more and only returned due to COIVD19.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t return home with some life-changing awakening. It wasn’t until I was back in Canada and re-established that I was presented with my true direction. I found Human Design. Human Design gave me a greater sense of self. It gave me the permission to listen to myself without fear. The Fearless Project Ltd is where I combine Fitness and Human Design. My promise isn’t just a lofty statement to become the happiest, healthiest you (though that’s part of the plan!). It’s about understanding yourself at a deeper level, like I did, so you can connect to your body, mind and the people in your life more authentically.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Let’s just say I have taken the road less travelled. There have been smooth patches of my journey and unexpected pot-holes. However, I wouldn’t change my road or current experiences for anything, anyone or any other level of success I have achieved so far. Even when my road has taken a hard right instead of a hard left…
Many times in my life where I was met with a struggle it was time to learn something new or ‘up level’ my life.
As an example, when I began working as a personal trainer I worked in many different studios and facilities. This had its challenges, but the biggest headache was the ‘waste of time’ commuting to and from clients. Then, there was a ‘up-level’, a new experience given to me when it was time to become a part of a bigger team and co-own my own facility. I opened a gym with 11 people co-working together. My commuting went from four(+) different places to ONE, and that was incredible! My income tripled, I was thriving in my work. However, other struggles came up that were new. Managing many cooks in one kitchen, burnout from over-working, needing to hire my own staff to help with my client load; I asked for more and got it, but then I had a new set of struggles.
One of the larger ‘struggles’ I have had throughout my professional career has been to establish my voice in the health & fitness community and feel truly authentic amongst the noise of the industry. It has taken time, patience and a lot of trial and error with how to present myself and my message. Through every re-birth of myself has come another re-birth of my business. Since COVID19 I have rebranded almost every year and even moved my home multiple times in search of my truest self. Currently, I have re-built a foundation like no other and am entering an era of true strength, vulnerability and compassion. I believe I am in my fearless-era and I now have a viewpoint that any struggle is meant to serve me to grow in my success as opposed to tear me down.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What sets me apart in my field of work, let alone in life, is that I am a professional dance artist & mover to my core; I allow my artistry to flow into every aspect of my life and business.
I have been dancing since I was seven, as mentioned in a pervious answer. Movement has always been the way in which my body and mind wants to express its excitement for life. A famous quote by a German dancer, choreographer and artist named, Pina Bausch, goes by, ‘Dance, dance, otherwise we are lost.’
I have ‘lost’ myself during different periods of my life, however when I come back to dance, when I come back to my body, I am never led astray.
Now, firmly rooted into my 30’s, I call myself an intuitive energy teacher, performer and healer. I teach through many different modalities of movement, but also in multiple ways to understand the ‘self’ and our conscious & unconscious mind.
Physical training through 1:1 and small group personal training is where I begin with most new clients. Stretch and strength classes for dancers and non-dancers is high on the list of how clients first engage with me as well. Everyone can dance and challenge their body through physical movement. All it takes is some encouragement, enthusiasm and a little bit of intuition as to what the body can handle as a stress on any particular day. What I would classify as a stress is any form of physical movement, which can include a simple 20 minute walk. The level as to what amount of stress the body can handle on a given day or is craving, is where my expertise comes in.
Over the years I have trained and worked with clients who are rehabilitating an injury, in remission from cancer care, are working towards a Crossfit competition or are just lifting in their home gym to be able to fight the effects of aging. What rings true in all cases is meeting the client where they are at, holding their energy in a supportive manner and yet inching them towards a better energetic state than when they began the session.
Another aspect of my physical healing capabilities with clients, is helping an individual understand that their body can experience larger ranges of motion and move pain free. Stretch therapy is needed like personal training. I stretch clients on a weekly basis, just as I train them. Stretch therapy can be classified as the ‘flossing of our teeth’ and puts oil back into our bodies. What the general population does not actively realize is that you can still get a cavity or injury even if you brush your teeth twice a day. Stretching helps put fluid back into our joints, helps ease pain and discomfort in areas of the body prone to injury and keeps all parts of the body moving smoothly. Just like how flossing keeps the gums healthy when combined with brushing our teeth.
I am a performer. Whether it is on stage, on tv, on a podcast or captured in a photograph. I genuinely love to showcase my knowledge and capabilities. The thrill of ‘butterflies in the stomach feeling’ is converted into energy for my body to execute a ‘perfect’ performance.
I am known for my stage presence, the energy I create and project into the audience. Whether I am on stage by myself or surrounded by a group of performers. I am not sure which style of dance I prefer the most, as I have tried so many. However, any dance style that is expressing the root of an emotional story I am given, is what my soul longs to perform. Currently in mid-2024 I am performing classical Flamenco dancing as well as contemporary.
Last, but certainly not least my work as an energy healer has come forward as I have been healing and integrating different parts of myself in my later 20’s to early 30’s. I have always been asking the questions, ‘What is my purpose?’, ‘Why do I love what I do.’ I did not realize that throughout my career as a trainer and performer that I have been healing clients on a cellular energetic level. In order to elevate and change my own cellular energy, I have embraced my own fearless unique qualities more with accepting parts of myself that I didn’t know I needed to. In 2022 I was shown the self-awareness system entitled, Human Design. Human Design is the combination of science and spirituality to describe who you came here to be. The biology of your spirit, soul and sense of self is described through your energy type and a human design body graph. Your human design is the road map your soul was given to experience the life you desire. I embrace my own human design and teach clients their designs to help them realize they are already fearlessly living life the way they were designed to all along.
What I am most proud of so far with the ‘work’ I have accomplished in life, is that I do not limit myself. What I mean by this is, is that I have no idea where my life and work will lead me. If I had a crystal ball to tell the future, I am not sure I would want to read it. The reason being, is that every time I ‘think’ I know where I am going with what project, client or business idea, the Universe shows me the way to go. My own body shows me with energy and excitement where to go next. If I limited myself to ‘knowing’ how it would all work out then I don’t know if I would have accomplished all of the things I have done thus far. Like dancing in a professional African dance company at 21 and co-owning a gym at 25 when I didn’t even go to University for business or personal training. Living in another country at 29 and returning to my home country in four months. If something or an opportunity comes to me, then I know it is meant for me. Whether that is a learning experience or a situation I will work/be with for the rest of my life, I know that if I limit my thinking around how everything will unfold then I will not be able to unlock the power within my body to achieve everything that is meant for me and my world around me.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
One quality sticks out to me, more than any other. Wholeheartedness.
I approach everything I do and everyone I meet with an open heart and dive in head first.
I have found that if I am half out of a relationship to begin with then that relationship does not flourish.
I have found that if I am not ‘all-in’ on a new business idea then that business does not succeed.
This quality of mine has taken time to flex and develop as I have learned what circumstances are the ones that I do need to invest in and which ones I do not need spend my time on at all.
The difference isn’t in how much time or effort I put into something, again, once I am ‘in the thick of it’, I am 110% getting my hands dirty. It is just realizing which situation to get in to in the first place and when to leave when the timing is right for me.
