Today we’d like to introduce you to Clancy Jones
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I had my first official show in 2013 in Galveston, Texas. From 2014 to 2016, I was between California and Texas working as an industrial mechanic. I recorded my first work in 2016, built a website, released music, and quit the oil & gas industry for good. That’s why I say officially seven years. Why the jump? There’s a lot of risk involved when starting over in your career. I was making great money and traveling 6-8 months out of the year. It’s hard to give up stability and a healthy paycheck. But the ember inside of me was burning to do music full-time. With the great support from my wife, we gave it a go, and it’s been building ever since. It was one of the best decisions I have made in my life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been a little bumpy but that’s the name of the game. One of the struggles in the beginning was booking the right venues. It’s challenging when you’re a new artist in a market. Most times you have to play particular venues you wouldn’t normally book until you build a fanbase to support the bigger venue. This takes years and a lot of patience.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a musician and songwriter. I am known for having a unique sound. I’ve been labeled a hybrid between Rockabilly, Americana, and rock. I am most proud of my tenacity to stick to it and keep plugging along. What sets me apart from others is my unique sound. I have a great team in Fort Worth, Texas. We gell each time we get together in the studio. This comfortability allows us to create a sonic landscape with each track. And again allows the songs to flow together harmoniously.
What matters most to you?
My wife and family. My wife has been my inspiration and greatest supporter throughout this journey. Our families are wonderful. They encourage us in the most positive ways to keep pushing forward.
