Today we’d like to introduce you to Cinder Shine Ernst

Hi Cinder Shine , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

In 2019 I got off my motorcycle and couldn’t walk. Cancer metastatic to the Bone. At that time I had a 50% chance of being alive the 26 months later.
I asked myself what would make living more appealing than dying. The answer was having more fun. My motto became Fun Fun Fun Dead
I put away a 30-year successful fitness business and started to focus on songwriting and making music for TV ads and films. At the heart of my music business is collaborating. I have friends all over the world I make music with. I have had songs used in TV and film and one ad.
The connections and love that I feel for and from my music community makes getting cancer worth it! Really.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

I have been on Non-Stop treatments for 5 years. I have come close to dying at least twice well maybe three times haha. Most of my struggles lately have been about not just keeping going but keeping going well.
Some days it’s hard to lift my head up off the pillow, and I know a lot of people feel that way. you don’t have to have cancer to feel that way.
The music part, the struggle is not to compare where I am or what I do to others. To not beat myself up. Beating yourself up is never a good idea.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

They call me Cinder Shine. I got that name because of how I show up in my communities. I am known for being terminally smiling and lighting up any room I am in.
As a music collaborator I have great ears, the knowledge of what makes a great song and the ability to lift any room I am in. My attitude, I believe, is my most valuable asset

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?

Optimism is my most important characteristic. I am optimistic at heart. I am optimistic about cancer, about music, about life and therefore no matter what is going on, I cultivate happiness. If you’re happy, what else is there?
