Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobby Trendz
Bobby, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story began in 1988 in Inglewood, California. Although many people find it hard to believe that I was born in California, my parents moved there about a year before I was born and stayed there for about a year after I was born before relocating back to New York. Both of my parents are immigrants who came to the United States in their teens, met each other in their teens, and got married in their teens. I’ve watched them become incredibly successful through their dedication to hard work, consistency, vision, and strong faith. They have been a great inspiration for me to never give up. I didn’t have to look far for motivation because my parents have been my greatest inspiration. They have been my driving force throughout my career, which started at H&M as a visual and has evolved into me being the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of my creative agency, The BT Collective.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In life, I believe that some rain must fall on every path. While my journey has not been without its challenges, I view these obstacles as integral to my personal growth and evolution, and I am grateful for the lessons they have taught me. The creative industry is a dynamic and fiercely competitive space, constantly evolving and demanding continuous research and strategic planning to navigate. Additionally, the ability to pivot and adapt is often overlooked but is equally crucial for success in this environment.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the visionary founder and chief creative officer of The BT Collective Agency, a cutting-edge creative firm located in SoHo, NY, specializing in content creation and brand strategy. I am a seasoned creative director, scenic designer, brand strategist, and social media consultant with over a decade of experience. I have collaborated with renowned personalities and brands such as Wynton Harvey, Salvatore Ferragamo, Neiman Marcus, Lindsey Brittain Collins, Ron David Studio, and Elly Karamoh in developing, designing, and enhancing our clients’ brands.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
During my childhood, I have a fond memory of spending time with my sister, flipping through magazines, and meticulously selecting and cutting out images of clothing, accessories, and even homes. We would then arrange these cutouts into lifestyle collages, which nowadays we would refer to as “vision boards.” Reflecting back, it’s interesting to realize that these seemingly simple activities were actually laying the groundwork for skills that would later become valuable in my career.
