Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Morse
Hi Ashley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my first company as a way to deal with my severe postpartum depression. I wanted to feel like I had a sense of worth and purpose, beyond being a mom to my girls.
I asked friends and family to model for me for my portfolio- and I fell in LOVE with photography.
Eventually, I learned more and more, finally settling into specializing in luxury portraiture and heirloom artwork.
A few years ago, I found my love for helping small business owners live happier(and easier) lives.
Now, I focus full-time on running my commercial photography studio and my education offerings.
My education offerings include in-person classes, plug-and-play templates, and all the tools you need to run your small business like a boss!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been BUMPY AF. 😂
A few of the top struggles I have had are…
+my unknown chronic illness… I became very very ill a few years ago and it completely derailed everything. I had to pivot my business completely and I felt GUTTED. I truly felt deep down that luxury portraiture and heirloom artwork was my calling- so when my health had other plans, it was tough for me to accept that emotionally- but honestly it was the biggest blessing in disguise!
+my mental health…running your own business can be challenging mentally, especially when you hear a lot of “no’s” and imposter syndrome starts creeping in. Keeping my emotions separated from my businesses has been one of the hardest struggles I’ve had to learn the hard way.
Surrounding myself with the wrong folks.. one of the hardest lessons I had to learn is that not everyone will have your best interest in mind… So, you need to make sure you’re being intentional with your time and actions and that they align with your purpose and your goals.
+Work-life balance! It took me almost 10 years to feel like I have finally got a pretty good grasp on my work-life balance. YES- it’s 100% a real thing!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a brand photographer and I specialize in capturing custom brand imagery for purposeful small business owners to showcase their products/services and get their future customers to envision their products/services in their lives.
I am known for helping other entrepreneurs live happier lives.
I am most proud of all the pivots and hardships I’ve overcome to become the small business owner I am today.
What sets me apart? I know exactly how to capture your business is the very best way and get customers dying to work with you.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I’ve always been a bit reserved but once I relax a little- I’m quirky AF.
I was born and raised in Northern California.
I was super active as a kid!
I played soccer, softball, and went snowboarding, fishing, and hunting.
Since I was about 4, my grandpa, uncle, and dad would take me to the local drag strip to watch the races and classic car shows. I’ve always LOVED classic cars and funny cars.
