Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Mcknight

Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

I have been interested in voice acting for as long as I can remember, and I’ve been singing as long as I could talk! I started my voice acting journey by auditioning for countless unpaid roles in small projects, building up my experience until I could eventually start landing paid roles! I was fortunate enough to get into contact with two wonderful authors during the early stages of my voice acting career who hired me to narrate their audiobooks. Audiobook narration gave me an incredible breadth of experience that I am beyond grateful for. Constant auditioning, improving my skills, and making connections are the steps I try to take every day on this amazing journey!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

No creative endeavor ever goes perfectly smoothly, and that’s part of what makes it worth it! I’ve had more than a few rejected auditions, e-mails that were never replied to, difficult project directors and rude potential clients, plenty of bumps along the way. But all of them were opportunities for learning and growth and I’ve tried to make the best out of every challenge I’ve faced.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

I am a voice actress and singer! I’m very proud of the fact that I can perform in a wide variety of accents, ages, and character voices to suit any project’s needs. I’m extremely grateful for the fact that I am able to sing as well as voice act, and think that gives me an edge in this highly competitive creative space. Something else I am grateful for is that I have a very neutral natural speaking voice that gives me a great blank canvas to do whatever I want with it. I am malleable, open to constructive criticism, always trying to grow, and feel that I can be a truly unique voice (no pun intended) in my field of work.

What matters most to you? Why?

My loved ones and my creative passions mean everything to me! I am extremely grateful for my wonderful husband, friends, and family that have always supported me through every step of my life. I have found meaning, belonging, and passion in expressing myself creatively through a variety of mediums: voice acting, music, writing, and so many more.
