Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Indeyevid
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The start of my music journey began when I was a teenager in middle school. I come from a family of athletes—three sisters, a brother, and me. I tried it all: lacrosse, field and ice hockey, basketball, soccer, and softball, to name a few. Sports were a major part of my upbringing, in a family with not a single musical bone in their body. However, maybe it was the classic Dad rock bands on the radio during drives to my ice hockey games with my dad, or the Pandora stations I browsed on my iPod, but I fell into pop-punk, emo, metal, and screamo bands—and never really looked back!
Once I became aware of Warped Tour, I started to gravitate more toward music—specifically bands. Instead of just being someone who went to concerts, I wanted to be the concert. I was always the person who said, “I can do that myself,” admiring others, like band members, who were living the dream. Without knowing exactly what I was getting into, my parents bought me an electric guitar when I was in my early teens. After a few lessons, I was writing songs, lyrics, and, most importantly, finding myself.
High school had its fair share of garage bands falling apart. I didn’t excel in any music classes I enrolled in, but I still found my passion for it. My angsty teenage emotions became songs, and I found myself drawn to the punk genre—and never looked back.
Years have gone by, and I’ve been in so many self-started bands. I’ve experienced various forms of musicianship, hosted, played, and attended all kinds of shows. I’ve learned and grown so much by throwing myself into the unknown, starting from the ground up, and experiencing things firsthand.
Now, as we approach 2025, I’m currently involved in two of my most passionate projects: Indeyevid and Bride Riot. I will never stop reaching to learn, grow, and experience new things in my musical journey.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely a challenge, but one that honestly turned into a benefit: I knew nobody and had no one to show me the ropes of starting my own band and musical journey. I didn’t have a parent who knew music, or even a distant relative I could call. I had to experience and learn from mistakes in order to continue being productive and growing. I like to say that “throwing myself into the fire” was the best way to learn things firsthand and go in without any prior knowledge, allowing me to interpret my own thoughts, opinions, and ideas. Even though this journey started solo, I still always prefer to work with a band and be collaborative whenever possible.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the vocalist of two bands, Indeyevid and Bride Riot, and also the guitarist in Indeyevid. I started these projects from the ground up, and both have been huge learning experiences for me. There have been plenty of mistakes, failures, and embarrassing moments along the way with both of these bands over the years. I have to say, some people might’ve given up at the forks in the road, but I think what sets me apart from others is my stubbornness. I do not allow negatives to become roadblocks on my journey; instead, I let them be experiences from which I learn and grow.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
It will always be okay—a lesson to remember. Things can change in an instant, whether it’s with bandmates, gigs, or gear. It doesn’t matter; it can all get better or worse. But knowing how to be prepared and staying calm, cool, and collected when it strikes is more important. Knowing how to bounce back when needed, and taking the time to break things apart to understand them better, is crucial.
When it comes to being in a band, though, the biggest lesson to learn is that you must always communicate with your bandmates! Never hold anything back; always be transparent with your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, because that bond and chemistry are the most important aspects of being in a band.
A personal reminder for me is not to let your emotions get the best of you. This applies to any musician or band: people are entitled to their own opinions, and you have to accept that. Be ready for anything, be grateful for those who support you, and respect those who choose not to. Never let anything get into your head because there will always be a positive thought out there to cancel out the negative one. You just need the patience and optimism to wait for it and look for it.
