We’ve always tried to ask the questions that matter but that are too awkward for people to ask their friends, family and coworkers without seeming dramatic. One of those questions is about mission and purpose – when’s the last time you asked a friend what their mission was? Too often we don’t talk about our own missions and don’t ask those close to us about theirs with the result being that our missions remain secret. Are you just a doctor or are you a doctor who wants to be there for patients in the way you wished your father’s doctor had been? People have incredible and meaningful missions, and we hope our conversations asking folks about their mission can inspire more such conversations in your life.

The Story Behind My Mission with Littlebug Face Painting Littlebug isn’t just a business—it’s a reflection of my passion for creativity, self-expression, and connection. My mission is to inspire others to embrace their dreams, no matter how big or small, and to remind them that joy and creativity are essential parts of life. As a child, I always felt the magic of art. Painting, drawing, and creating allowed me to express myself in ways words couldn’t. But as I grew older, the pressures of life and expectations made me question whether pursuing something creative could be a “real” path. When I discovered face painting, it reawakened that childhood wonder. It wasn’t just about painting faces—it was about giving people, especially children, a moment of pure joy and a chance to see themselves as something extraordinary, even if just for a day. Our mission is all about breaking free from the ordinary and embracing the bold, the dramatic, and your true sensual self. We exist to inspire women who dare to stand out, and those who want to make a statement. In a world that often seeks to tame the wild and the unconventional, our goal is to be a spark. We want to encourage others to create art that is bold, without restraint, and with all the theatrical flair possible. Why? Because the world needs more than just what’s expected. It craves the daring, the unexpected, and the deeply authentic. Our mission isn’t just about pushing boundaries; it’s about celebrating the artistry of life itself, every messy, dramatic, gorgeous moment of it. Read more>>

As a person living with a spinal cord injury for more than 25 years, I have not just survived, but thrived because of three very specific areas of influence. The quality of my life began with the education and empowerment process of physical, mental and emotional rehabilitation. I rediscovered my passions in the world when I was reintegrated back into society through outdoor recreation programming. And, I have found purpose in advocating the necessity of investing in science and research. Our 501 (c)(3) non-profit, Adversity Into Adventure Foundation, highlights rehabilitation, recreation and neurological research as the three fundamental pillars (3R Ethos) by aligning and integrating with other high-impact organizations for the disabled community. Leni James was born from a deeply personal journey of combining my love for fine jewelry with the transformative power of manifestation. Jewelry has always held symbolic meaning—whether passed down through generations or given as a token of love. I wanted to elevate this symbolism, creating pieces that serve as more than adornments. They are tools for intention-setting, talismans designed to harness the Universe’s energy to support people in manifesting their desires and raising their vibrations. Read more>>

My mission holds deep meaning for me because it represents a pivotal moment in my life. While pursuing my MBA, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. My mission with Rincon Curativo is deeply rooted in my personal journey as a queer, first-generation Latina therapist and the daughter of immigrant parents. Growing up in a Colombian household, I witnessed firsthand how mental health was often misunderstood or ignored within our culture and how cycles of pain, silence, and unspoken grief persisted across generations. These experiences shaped my passion for creating a space where the complexity of our cultural identities is honored and where individuals can find support in navigating intergenerational wounds. I am always driven by two things: expressing all the gifts inside me fully and meaningfully and inspiring hearts to fly open by sharing my words and work so that others going through what I’ve been through don’t have to suffer so much or feel alone. I believe we come into this life full of potential that can be fully actualized no matter how hard life is. And my life has been hard, as has the challenges faced by my clients. Yet with tools, support and connection to our deep inner knowing, we can overcome what is thrown onto our path and be all the stronger and wiser. The mission of my work is to be a living example of merging intuition with intellect to be my whole self while helping others do the same through my books, self paced course, group programs, and one-to-one 12 week transformational coaching. I’ve helped hundreds unlock how they can recognize their intuition apart from their own thoughts, learn how to listen to signs, dreams and body signals to access their higher wisdom, and connect with their personal Spirit Guides, ancestors and Angels so they can feel held by higher support. My mission as a portrait photographer isn’t just about making people look good—it’s about helping them be seen, feel powerful, and look extraordinary. This mission comes from a very personal place. I grew up in a remote village in China, far from the life I live now. In my early years, I didn’t have my parents around or the comfort of friends. I didn’t have toys to play with, and I was surrounded by strangers. As a little girl, I felt utterly powerless. When I was four, I reunited with my parents, and life began to change. We moved to Guangzhou, a vibrant city near Hong Kong, and from there, my journey took me to Beijing, London, and eventually New York. These moves weren’t just geographic; they were transformative. They shaped how I see the world and how I see people. Read more>>

About nine years ago, I was at a low-point in my life. I had made choices I wasn’t proud of, I had lost relationships, and I had moved miles away from my home to stay close to my daughter. In many ways, I was more alone in my life than I had ever been. I looked at my life and saw the ashes of what I tried to build. I thought about the stories I had chosen to believe in my life that set me on a path that led to ashes. In the middle of this, I began working at a community garden in the town of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, a town where I now live. I began helping construct a prayer labyrinth there, a circular path designed to walk, meditate, and bring your questions to God. And especially, to listen. It was there, I walked and listened and waited for God’s voice to talk to me about my own healing. Read more>>

The Story Behind My Mission For most of my life, I believed deep down that God made a mistake when I was conceived. This belief was reinforced by every traumatic event I endured—leaving me feeling unworthy, unloved, unsafe, a burden to others, alone, and never good enough. These limiting beliefs became the lens through which I saw my entire life, holding me back from living fully and authentically. But a few years ago, I took the most courageous step of my life: I decided to face my demons head-on. I began the hard but necessary work of embracing my healing journey. Through this process, I started to recognize the lies I had been telling myself for so long. I realized that while I couldn’t change the events of my past, I had the power to change the beliefs I carried because of them. I discovered my worth, my purpose, and the truth: I was never a mistake. Read more>>

We both thought it would set a good example for our two daughters and decided to go for it. Read more>>

As a kid, I always felt there wasn’t any real space for men to express themselves through style/fashion. It was always met with ridicule or judgement, and my main area of focus goes far beyond that of self expression, but rather that of self love, self discovery, and living in your own truth. What we wear or how we present ourselves to the world, is often a message about who we are within. Embracing personal style and expressing yourself through clothing is an effective way on communicating this message. Read more>>

As a young child in the 80’s I had all the toys. If you can think of it, I had it. My room would get messy playing with everything, like disaster-level messy, so my mother and I would spend Saturday mornings putting it back together. We’d put it back together and rearrange it every time so that it felt fresh and new. This always left me with a magical and loving feeling inside and that love and magic served me all through my schooling years and still serves me as an adult. When there was a huge assignment due I’d clean and tidy my room and rearrange it so that I could get motivated to do the assignment, otherwise, I’d feel lost, unmotivated, and uninspired. Read more>>

Savannah DSA is a group of ordinary working class people uniting to have a real voice in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and society. All of our members have experienced how difficult it is to thrive under capitalism, which is ultimately what encourages new members to join the work we’re doing to build and support our community in more just and fair ways. As a chapter, and national organization, we are all working towards a democracy that creates space for everyone to flourish – not just survive – and which answers the fundamental questions of our lives with the input of all. We want to collectively own the key economic drivers that dominate our lives, such as energy production and transportation. We want the multiracial working class united in solidarity instead of divided by fear. We want to win “radical” reform like single-payer Medicare for All, defund the police/refund communities, the Green New Deal, and more as a transition to a freer, more just life. Read more>>

I spent the first 12 years of my career life as a intensive care nurse. While I loved taking care of people, I hated feeling unsupported and missed the creative part of myself. When I went back to school and transitioned to a career in interior design I vowed to create a business and life that I would love and that would help others love their life as well. In keeping with that feeling, when I design spaces for individuals, couples and families, I like to focus on keeping the design unique to each client, incorporating their personalities and things they love. Design is not “one fits all” and I believe you should be able to see your clients personalities in the design. Read more>>

At the time, I was pursuing my certification in mindfulness and meditation, so it was a perfect fit for me. I started the Napkin Network on the last day of 2020 after witnessing how many moms, including myself, were struggling during COVID-19 to provide basic baby essentials for our children. I wanted 2021 to be a better year for moms across the country. Thus, I incorporated The Napkin Network with the mission of moms helping moms in need. Our goal is to provide free and easy access to basic baby essentials, like diapers, wipes, formula, and emergency food. Being a mom is a challenging and expensive role. As a mom of three, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to provide certain items, even in a stable financial household. Children are costly, and as they grow, the expenses increase. No baby and no mom should have to worry about where a clean diaper will come from. This mission is close to my heart because it reflects my experiences and those of many other moms. The Napkin Network aims to alleviate some of these burdens, ensuring that no mom has to face these challenges alone Read more>>
