We’ve always tried to ask the questions that matter but that are too awkward for people to ask their friends, family and coworkers without seeming dramatic. One of those questions is about mission and purpose – when’s the last time you asked a friend what their mission was? Too often we don’t talk about our own missions and don’t ask those close to us about theirs with the result being that our missions remain secret. Are you just a doctor or are you a doctor who wants to be there for patients in the way you wished your father’s doctor had been? People have incredible and meaningful missions, and we hope our conversations asking folks about their mission can inspire more such conversations in your life.

As a devoted mother, mentor, writer, and entrepreneur, I am passionate about empowering young girls with the tools to navigate the complexities of social and emotional issues. That’s why I created The Breadcrumbz, a platform that offers valuable lessons for girls and parents alike. My mother, a highly qualified educator and counselor, was instrumental in helping me develop this program. Before she passed away, she urged me to continue this mission because of the value of the content and the growing need for it. Unfortunately, my youngest daughter’s chronic medical condition forced me to step back and care for her shortly after embarking on this journey. This experience opened my eyes to the devastating effects of continual cruelty on young girls. I saw firsthand how my daughter’s dreams of attending her graduation ceremony were shattered by the constant threat of three bullies in her class. As a mother, this was a heartbreaking experience that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. That’s why I am committed to changing the course of this kind of cruelty that exists between girls. I want to spare other parents of this kind of pain. Read more>>

When I was a sophomore at North Gwinnett High School, I met an amazing young man named David O’Callaghan. While I had multiple opportunities as a child to be surrounded with these special humans, David touched my heart like no one before. Our friendship helped me discover the tremendous need for inclusion and opportunity for the special needs population. I immediately realized what I wanted to do with my life !!! . My focus and purpose started then and my main goal was to create and expand a nonprofit, Happyfeat.org. I work full time directing Happyfeat’s programs with the help of a dear friend and some amazing volunteers. I have also volunteered coaching a special needs cheerleading team through the Atlanta Jayhawks for the last ten years. Read more>>

Caring for Mama was born after I became a mom to my two girls. I knew after struggling with postpartum depression that I needed to get involved in supporting women and mothers. It started in early 2024 when I had the idea to gift friends with care packages filled with my favorite postpartum products. I sent packages around the country and dropped gift bags on neighbors doorsteps. I received the most beautiful responses and it was then I knew what I’m meant to do. Caring for Mama is my way of curating special care packages just for mama that include clean, nourishing products I source from women-owned businesses. Read more>>

When I decided to start Lizzy’s 13 years ago, there were breed specific rescues that did not bring in older dogs. There were other mainstream rescues that brought in puppies and dogs up to 5 years because after that, they were considered “unadoptable,” and shelters only kept senior pups for the required amount of time and then walked them back to be euthanized, without giving them a chance because the public view is that people didn’t want them, they wanted puppies and younger dogs. Even the mainstream rescue I was on the board of said no seniors, they are expensive and unadoptable. So, I eventually resigned and started my own rescue. My focus is on pups 10 years and up. We have gotten a few 18 to 20 year olds and it was fabulous because we could help ensure they had a great life for however long that would be. Many people ask why our focus is on such old dogs and my response is “they deserve a good quality of life or end of life, also.” Even at 18 and 20 years, most were still moving and engaged for a while, and it was great to see. Some we only have for a few days after we find out their health is declining rapidly or they are in pain. We consider it an honor to be able to help them with a peaceful transition or to make an end of life decision on their behalf. These things are meaningful to us because it seems society is not as in tuned to seniors, whether it be human or dog, and we believe they all deserve to be cared for and to know they are loved… not abandoned. I also now bring in mobility challenged pups of any age because society as a whole is not interested in them. I am no longer able to bring in larger dogs that are mobility challenged because I can no longer lift them into wheels or assist them getting outside, etc. I do bring in smaller ones. One 9 year old Chihuahua with mobility issues I had his back legs amputated and he is so much happier and healthier. An 8 year old Chihuahua mix with mobility issues I brought in, it turns out she has a bullet in her spine (that cannot be removed) and surprise – she was 30 days pregnant. It is always an adventure…. I guess you can say our mission is to help those dogs that other rescues are not interested in helping because they are thought to be “expensive and unadoptable.” That could also be said about dogs that are not senior, however, we have been successful at finding fabulous homes for them, but either way, they deserve a chance to get out of the shelter or bypass the shelter. It isn’t their fault they are old or they got shot or hit by a car…. I consider Lizzy’s a last resort rescue. When a shelter reaches out to Lizzy’s, I typically ask them to try other rescues and if the pup is in danger of being euthanized, I will bring them in, if I have room or a foster. Our focus is also on kill shelters, which not a pleasant place, but society and articles have made people hate them and only adopt from no kill shelters. The kill shelters are typically more rural with less funding, less resources and volunteers, and who needs the help the most and they still try to get as many pups out as possible. Read more>>

My journey to my current career path is deeply rooted in my lifelong dedication to service. Growing up, I was greatly influenced by my mother, who is a missionary in the church. Her unwavering commitment to helping others and spreading hope inspired me to pursue a path of service. Additionally, I come from a family with a strong military background, including my grandfather who served in the Korean War, and my own service as an Army Veteran. These experiences instilled in me the values of commitment and leadership early on. This foundation, combined with a passion for making a positive impact, led me to the nonprofit sector. My work in business and leadership coaching and consulting, particularly through Supporting World Hope LLC, allows me to channel my experiences and passion into creating a platform that uplifts and empowers both nonprofits and small businesses. The business process of business ideas and execution, policy making production to manufacturing, education and professional paths runs in the family itself. I have several role models of my own father, mother, aunts, uncles or ancestors such as grandparents as well that have followed all the 3 paths of success at a time in their life. Education which is by schooling/universities, business often by consistent delivery of products or services or as in investor and professional such as certifications which we often take for local laws or permits. Depends on field. Most of my family or literally all of them are in multiple fields. Each of them are known personalities in their country of residence and in their respective own fields of multi specialities. All or each generation has been successful & extremely educated and knowledgeable as well. My family have seen people growing in their fields either by mastery or by delivery of consistent results or by skills and the struggles too. i have seen my parents take important decisions in life and how beautifully they taught me to maneuver through it. That exposure made me think and outline my missions in life at very early age. I had a planner for atleast 5 years in my teen years because of my first marketing job at AMWAY & at a Medicare store in India. The environment in my family itself is of that high quality life and vibration that it allowed me to enjoy freedom and sustain life, peace of mind and what matters at the end of day. Do more, think more. I have had my parents ask me if I was sick the moment they would see me do “nothing’. obviously this does not mean that i did not have my fair share of peace of mind but my parents believed that you should do something that drives you to do more. Field does not matter if you are in the right path. Since then I made plans on paper. Life was anyway early to me and so it never made sense for me to be stalled. i knew i was ahead of everybody in my teen years itself. These experiences, exposure, environment, expertise of my parents or relatives in their fields within my family itself laid the foundation of all my goals. It inspired me. Read more>>

The path that I took to become a Producer was not a typical one. I went to college and got my Master’s Degree and then Clinicals in Social Work. I worked for 10 years as a Medical Social Worker; first working with Women and Children with HIV, then in Children’s Hospice. It was while working in Children’s Hospice that I met a young boy named Tommy who was diagnosed with an aggressive childhood cancer, Ewing’s Sarcoma. I walked alongside Tommy and his family for several years, and before Tommy died, he asked me to promise I would “Follow Your Dreams.” After Tommy passed, I lost my job and while looking for a new one in the Social work field, a friend of mine John Forte(that is an amazing Director and mentor) asked me to come work with him as a PA at a local studio in Virginia Beach where I was living at the time. John taught me not only the basics of television and film, but showed me how to Field Log, AD, and Produce. A few months later, a show with Lifetime, “Coming Home” came into town to film with an all LA crew base. They needed a local Field Logger to work with them and I was hired. It was on this show that I met my LA mentor Karin Jarlstedt, who took me under her wing and taught me about Producing on network shows. We kept in touch and I continued to work for a couple more years in Virginia on local projects and bigger network projects that came to town. In 2011, I decided to make the jump and move to LA to work with an incredible Executive Producer Arnold Shapiro, who hired me to work on the show “Beyond Scared Straight.” I continued to work on movies in the AD department, and in documentary TV as an AP and moved up to being a Producer within a couple of years; both in the Field and in Casting. When you decide to start a spiritual business you do so because it’s a soul calling not a financial one. Before I started my professional business as a tarot reader and spiritual teacher I was a corporate girly in Human Resources for a huge company. The mission is meaningful because it is me. In December 2020 I found myself strapped into a harness and perched on a platform a few hundred feet in the air. The best part about what I do is being able to really connect with people. It’s far more than just doing their hair. My mission when I began my career was to create an environment in which people felt safe. They could speak freely, share what was going on or not, just feel comfortable. Knowing that what they share stays with me and it wouldn’t go anywhere else. 10 years?!?! It has been 10 years since I formally founded Hawa Images and Hawa LLC and I am reflecting a lot these days. I took the shakiest steps towards starting my business journey. A camera in one hand and a baby on my hip chasing two littles with no real clue what it meant to be an entrepreneur and too afraid to call myself that anyway I launched my first website, made my first post, and booked my first paying client. I was not confident or sure at all. But I did it. I took messy action. I am here to normalize doing it afraid because that is how I have seen success in my life. I think too often women wait for permission, timing or a specific season, more skills or knowledge, or the perfect plan. None of that will make you successful. You showing up, serving others joyfully, and being committed to your vision and growth will. Be brave enough to be a beginner. Read more>>

My story is pretty much like everyone else’s in a sense. I’ve been a fan of film ever I was kid. At the age of 8 I always thought I wanted to be a writer, but it wasn’t until my dad bought me a copy of “SAVING PRIVATE RYAN” when I decide to becoming a filmmaker instead. I just remeber watching the movie, being just taken away from how powerful that film truly is. Then watching the BEHIND-THE-SCENES on how they made the film. Just learning on how they were able to achieve certain scenes, Learning what the actor to go through, and learning about the cinematography. Read more>>
