We’ve always tried to ask the questions that matter but that are too awkward for people to ask their friends, family and coworkers without seeming dramatic. One of those questions is about mission and purpose – when’s the last time you asked a friend what their mission was? Too often we don’t talk about our own missions and don’t ask those close to us about theirs with the result being that our missions remain secret. Are you just a doctor or are you a doctor who wants to be there for patients in the way you wished your father’s doctor had been? People have incredible and meaningful missions, and we hope our conversations asking folks about their mission can inspire more such conversations in your life.

If you told me in high school that I would one day become a successful novelist, I would have laughed. I failed English in the 11th grade and feared I wouldn’t graduate with my class. However, as a young adult, I stumbled upon a genre of novels that quickly engrossed me. If you told me in college that I would one day write love stories, I would have laughed even louder. Seven novels later, I realize that our God-given talents can surprise us. I remember sitting on my front porch reading books that made me feel as though I was a part of the story like I knew the characters personally. I felt their emotions and saw what they saw, and when the story ended, I wanted to know what happened next in their lives. I enjoyed reading so much that I decided I wanted to write. Read more>>

Our business, Beacons Mandala, is founded on a mission to spread positivity and healing through art. We create sand art installations on local beaches that offer hope and intention to people who may need a kind message on a hard day. We believe that harnessing creativity can be a healing outlet, especially when it involves connecting with the earth as a co-creator. Our mandala workshops are designed to help individuals connect to their own creativity. By inspiring even one person to find an outlet to channel their creativity, we believe this can have a ripple effect and contribute to a more positive and connected world. Read more>>

In September 2018, I started my podcast, 3 Spooked Girls with my best friend, Jessica. What had originally started as a way to spend more time together as long-distance best friends, evolved into a strong community of amazing humans who are interested in true crime and the paranormal. Our biggest goal has always been to give a voice to the voiceless. Over the past five years, we have shared cases from a vast range of time periods, solved or unsolved, and have worked with victims’ families to help tell their stories. Read more>>

When I was 25 years old, a shocking discovery was made of a 3 cm cavernoma (vascular tumor) on my brainstem. After 2 failed craniotomies with the purpose of removing it, it was finally successfully removed after a third craniotomy in December of 2019. Although the surgery removed the lesion, I was left with multiple physical deficits which interfered with my ability to walk, my vision, my hearing, and the ability to use the right side of my body. After being released from the hospital in February of 2020, the COVID pandemic began a few weeks later. I was left trying to navigate recovering in my new body alone without the help of professionals, since therapy services shut down. Read more>>

When I started this buisness h obviously knew I wanted it to be a profited one which comes along with success. Most importantly though I wanted it to be a buisness that everyone could afford. The wedding industry has this concept of you get what you paid for , which is so true but what about you get what you pay for in your realistic budget? Should less money mean less quality of product that skimp on your photos. I knew in my heart I wanted to keep me affordable fo everyone. Everyone deserves beautiful pictures and maybe having a payment plan or different variation of packages would help keep us trending to all couples rather than only one price point clientele. Our mission is “To tell it like it is…period!” The reason that created this mission statement is based on the fact that there are platforms that don’t tell the truth or when they do, they give a half truth or tell a lie. I live by this creed. When we talk about a subject, we choose to tell it like it is, which means telling the truth!!! If we can’t be truthful we can never have the impact that we need to have on the people we reach!!! Read more>>

My mission is very important to me as it has to do with children in the entertainment industry by providing them with resources and guidance. My daughter is a model, actress, influencer, dancer, competitive gymnast and more. When we started pursuing the entertainment industry, we were completely lost. Not knowing where to start, what direction to go in or who to contact. We started participating in fashion shows we found through internet searches. After almost making a year through the industry, we were headed in the wrong direction. Read more>>

Use movement and exercise to experience more life! I use to spend hours in the gym to look and feel my best. I found myself so addicted to exercise that I would miss out on life experiences with friends and family because I needed to finish a workout. While I physically looked my best, I was exhausted and missing out on life. Read more>>

Most of us creatives went to school to learn our craft (design, writing, photography, etc.), yet we didn’t take business classes because they either weren’t required or we didn’t think we would ever need them. We were wrong. So many of us end up freelancing or being self-employed—whether by choice or by default—and don’t know HOW to run a business. This is a huge void and one that I’ve made my life’s mission to rectify. Read more>>

Long before the inception of FLI Social, I created PDX Black Unicorn, a black hair directory. The inspiration behind this initiative stemmed from the frustration I encountered while searching for a black hair stylist for my wedding in 2017. Determined to address this issue, I embarked on creating a website, equipped with a camera, and began interviewing stylists to populate my platform. Read more>>

I own a Plaintiff’s personal injury firm. My clients are people who have been injured due to the negligence of others. We believe sports have unique power – the traditions, the joy of victory, and the connections. I am a woman in my early thirties strong, determined, sincere, hard-working, creative and yet talented. My father calls me Chidinma Lucy Kalu, but I go by the social name Alex Chidinma. I am the brain and their hands behind the Stylish Ambassadors. Well, I just have very little to say about the mission of my brand Stylish Ambassadors. Life was alot easier financially for me when I was growing up, but at a certain stage in my life it became quite difficult, and every blessed day I saw myself creating and making different kinds of items, drawing, singing etc. In fact I could do a lot of things that made me appear extremely talented and creative. My friends call me “jack of all trade; master of all, because I am virtually good in everything I do. Read more>>

When people find out that I make candles they either ask two things: “OH! Can I smell them?” Or “What made you start doing this?”. While I love the first question question, because yes, you can smell the candles. I admire the second question the most. It may just be a candle to some, but to others, it’s my story. In hopes of finding a new coping skill for my Anxiety and Depression, I came across the idea of candle making. The thought of melting the wax and deciding your own fragrance was interesting to me, so, I tried it out. I fell in love with the process of making candles, and the love grows daily. Read more>>

I think I may be a bit of an anomaly because so little of what I do professionally defines me as a person, and I like it that way. Yes, I’m an attorney, and that is often one of the first things people ask when they meet you, right? “What do you do for work?” But, for me, practicing law is a means of funding my true mission: philanthropy. It all started with my love for the Lord and photography. I wanted to honor Him and help women grow closer to Him. So I set out on a journey and opened my own photography business. I started in nature photography and moved into family portraits. No matter what, it seemed as if something was missing. I wasn’t quite ready myself, living a life of uncertainty and not fully walking with the Lord yet. So I decided to put my business on hold. Read more>>

I didn’t create VMC to be just another Coaching and Consulting business. When I originally started VMC 7 years ago, I was only working with women. I have always wanted to create more opportunities in the workplace and I have always wanted to create more equality for women. But we can’t get there without the men in our lives. We need their support as well and we need this to become a shared, equal world where paternity leave is as common as maternity leave. When I started this company, I was just coming from my own career crisis and knew I wasn’t headed in the right direction unless I took drastic action. Read more>>

A lot of my mission connects to my desire to create visibility in spaces. As someone who has both lost my family support system, multiple jobs, and even medical care due to my identity, it’s very important to use my voice to create visibility for others that have my same experience. Unfortunately there are many people in our state that would have us believe that being trans is a sickness or a negative thing, however I believe that despite the opposition, our spirit will prevail. That desire extends into every element of what I do – drag, photography, events, and coffee. Read more>>
