We’ve always tried to ask the questions that matter but that are too awkward for people to ask their friends, family and coworkers without seeming dramatic. One of those questions is about mission and purpose – when’s the last time you asked a friend what their mission was? Too often we don’t talk about our own missions and don’t ask those close to us about theirs with the result being that our missions remain secret. Are you just a doctor or are you a doctor who wants to be there for patients in the way you wished your father’s doctor had been? People have incredible and meaningful missions, and we hope our conversations asking folks about their mission can inspire more such conversations in your life.

Starting a garage door company was never something that I intended to do. Prior to taking an entry level job with a local garage door company, I had no prior construction related experience. I took that job on as a part time gig while working through grad school. About the same time I finished my degree, my boss sold his company and we parted ways. After that, I believed my time in the garage door industry had come to an end and I would be moving on to other things. Read more>>

Ally’s Wish was started in 2014. Allyson Hendrickson was someone that I knew from church and felt a call to do something for her. She was terminally ill and had 3 young boys. All her physical needs were being met, I just felt like there was something else to do. One day while I was driving God gave me the idea of Ally’s Wish, to grant wishes to terminally ill young moms. So I called three of my friends to have them come over that night to discuss. Read more>>

Control plays a strong role in our lives. I find if I am out of control and let things ‘fall into place,’ I put myself at risk of something going wrong. Once I became a mother in November of 2017 to our boy, Benjamin, I found this idea of control was something that was challenged on a daily basis. No longer was I able to make a step by step plan for the day. My expectations of motherhood were way beyond anything I read in a book or blog post. It was something that was out of my control and took me by surprise. Read more>>

Growing up as a child, you think of the adults around you as superheroes. Their powers? Healing. Strength. Speed. Always being there to rescue you when you need them. Seemingly being immune to your attacks. Healthy, unless known otherwise. You don’t think of them as someone who might leave your side, or at least anytime soon rather. You picture them being there for important events in your life, high school graduation, college move-in, and the birth of your first child. The list goes on. Read more>>

Since I could remember as a kid, I was fascinated by video games and sports. From the Atari 2600 to the present day, playing video games was part of my DNA. I also loved watching and playing basketball, football, and stickball with my friends. As I became a father decades later, I noticed I was spending hundreds of dollars a year on Pokémon for my kids. I’d then watch them throw away most of the cards they got, hunting for the “rare” card they could show off to their friends. They, too, loved playing sports. Read more>>

By the time I was 10, I played Beethoven’s “Moonlight” Sonata in full (and the crowd went wild!) Read more>>

Skinveda means science and nature in harmony. As a mother, I always looked for safe, non-toxic, and gentle topical products for my kids and family. Hello there. The story behind my mission begins with my pursuit of a career in music as a singer/ songwriter. As an artist, I always thought outside the box with my fashion choices.I’ve had all types of fashion phases. The goth vibe with the platform shoes, the trippy Bay Area cali girl vibe with thrift store finds, rocking’ a mohawk, having super long hair. I was experimenting with appealing looks you’d see on Rihanna or Kreayshawn. My music contains a trippy kind of dreamy feel to it, so beyond the sound, the appearance must be appealing aswell. I’m talking about everyday people, your neighbors, your co-workers, and the people walking on the street.
