We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Courtney Reynolds. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Courtney below.
Alright, Courtney thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Healthy Lengths, LLC was discovered in 2018-2019. I connected with other women with various hair textures while working as a Beauty Consultant for a local hair boutique in the Atlanta. Our goal as a Consultant was to not only make a sale. However, we developed great relationship with customers. During that time, I developed a deeper passion for educating customers on hair care tips to elongate their hair extensions. Healthy Lengths was discovered!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I was born and raised in Decatur, Georgia. Healthy Lengths is a mobile hair maintenance service your hair extensions, and wigs. I provide women with tips to elongate their extensions, provide wash services, protective hairstyle removal and more. I am most proud of seeing myself overcome the fear and anxiety of launching my business. And lastly, seeing other women of color launch their business, networking with each other etc. The main thing I want potential clients to know that it’s totally fine to say “I don’t know” or ask for help. If you want to learn more about protective styles such as picking out a wig for the first time or selecting a protective hairstyle etc. Whatever it is, I want to walk this journey with you. My goal is to educate women about elongating their extensions up to two years or longer.
Success to me is seeing a client’s reaction after applying her unit or after a consultation. The feeling makes me feel successful. Booking a service is Healthy Lengths is not only a service, it’s an experience!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Wow! Like many Entrepreneurs, the Pandemic enabled me to pivot my business. I recall going several months to a year without booked services. Whew! it was though! During the time of shutdown, I pivot my business and began focusing on my self healing. As I am still embarking on this journey, I noticed a difference in how I show up prior to the Pandemic. Although I had to pivot my business, I came out the Pandemic learning more about myself and better Entrepreneur. This pivot was life changing.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy is networking to build clientele. I gained clients from attending various networking events and passing out business cards/flyers. The last thing that helped me build clientele is having social media platform(s). We now live in a space where social media is our marketing platform. That helped a lot!
