We were lucky to catch up with Zuri Georgestone recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Zuri thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful, I believe it’s important to take risks, connect with the right people, and continue to learn.
I attempted to start two different businesses prior to ZURIE Brand, and the first one, production was halted by pandemic.
The second business, I was ghosted by the seamstress.
So when I connected with a man who was really successful in his own field, him and I were speaking about the next move. Would I start again? Would I do something different. What would be best for me?
Ultimately I’m still working, and it’s a rough path but I’d say I succeeded in starting my clothing boutique by those three things and persevering.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
ZURIE Brand, is an online boutique catered to women that would like to build a wardrobe that can be worn in different environments. I’m a very feminine woman who enjoys dressing up on vacation, for a date night/girls night, or something during the day, and all my pieces reflect that.
I strive to curate pieces that encourage femininity, vibrancy, sexy but somewhat elegant. I wanted to give young women options of still looking cute while wearing something that is atmosphere friendly in all situations.
I’m proud of my journey to becoming a business owner, and also I see trends change as time goes on, and I’m able to adapt to that quickly. I always want to hear feedback on my items and I want you to feel comfortable and confident in what you wear!

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
All the initial capital, came from working my day jobs. I had savings from those jobs to start my brand.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Truly new clients come from social medias. This is why it’s important to curate an image that’s relevant and welcoming to those online and not just those around you. I also try to remember people buy from people, not a brand—so I make sure my personal brand is on point as well.
